I discovered Church-Key Brewing several years ago out on my motorcycle and it has often in the past been a destination for a relaxing half day ride. A couple of their beers are now available at the LCBO outlets in the area and as such it would be nice to go to the brewery and discover some of their other seasonal/occasional/experimental ales available in 6 packs, rather than the other option being the hit and miss dinner bottles or the $5 deposit growler requiring more immediate consumption, then storage and transport back 107 km.Having said that I was pleased in late October to find a new product, "Bloody Wanker" a British style pale ale available in 6 packs on my last ride of 2014 and with a friend a transplanted Brit visiting a week later it seemed only appropriate to take some home.Sadly the beer foamed out of the bottle faster than we could get our lips to the neck after popping the cap and after that tide had been stemmed, even the most careful pour into a 500ml glass from a 341 ml bottle produced mostly heady foam. We moved on to some other beers leaving 3 in the bar fridge until this afternoon.I now have to go mop up the beer foam/head that escaped from the bottle and still have two more to contend with :( "bloody he11" :)
We visited the Church Key and found it very unique. We brought to different beers which were very fresh and crisp tasting. Nice for a summer ale as well. Will return next summer as well.
Let me start off by saying that it is extremely cool that a microbrewery is setup in a church on the outskirts of Campbellford, and pretty close to Crowe Falls. On the other hand, the beer is average at best. Thats not saying that is bad, what Im saying is it will get better as the brewmaster gains more experience with making his product.I am a huge micro brew enthusiast, and this company has a good product that is going to be great! Please take note on PM'ing the equipment more often, this will increase the product level. If you do go, please ask a lot of questions to the people giving the tours, they will not be able to answer all of your questions, however this will empower them to learn more on the entire process, and better answer any questions that come up in the future.Good work gentlemen, keep up the hard work!!
What a fun attraction! The beer is great, and it's made in a church. Now that's a Sunday church service I can get behind!
