March 2015 - Saw Blithe Spirit with Angela Landsbury, all cast were excellent and am thoroughly glad I went, a memorable moment for sure. It has been said that there is no such thing as a bad seat, and I have to agree. I am so glad they didn't end up tearing down this theater, they really should design theatres like this one! the seating is comfortable, theater beautiful, even cheapest seats in last row in grand orchestra (2nd floor balcony) had still a good view of performance from many angles and would choose the seat gladly again. If you are wondering if you should book at this theater, if you are at all interested in a performance, don't delay, go for it! :)One of my new favs in Toronto!
We saw Blithe Spirit. Highly recommend springing for orchestra seating, we were 8 rows back & had a perfect view. The lounge is nice, as are the facilities. My only complaint was as a taller, bigger person, there's not a lot of knee room. If this is something you're concerned about, an aisle seat may be best. This theatre is easy walking distance from nice hotels and the CN tower. The deli next door is fantastic. If you like antiques, check out the store above too.
We went to see Blithe Spirit and we were not disappointed. The cast is very fine, with the age-defying Dame Angela Lansbury starring as Madame Arcati. I've seen the play performed at the Shaw and Stratford Festivals, but this is the best production yet, and Dame Angela is a human treasure. Rush to see the play before it closes. As for the Princess of Wales, the theatre is not very old, but it's showing signs of neglect, probably because the site faces redevelopment. Moreover, the seating is less comfortable than at, say, the Young Centre. The space is nice-looking, however, and it will be a sad day when it ceases to exist.
There used to be many attractive features about this venue, built less than 20 years ago and soon to be torn down to line David M's pockets (sold to build condos). Signs are falling off the wall, the paint on the proscenium is crumbling, and the elevator moves at the speed of a turtle. The design is VERY heavily staired and a nightmare to navigate - 2000 people and two very slow moving elevators. What a disappointment to see this building neglected, along with its sister theatre, the Royal Alex. Ed Mirvish worked so hard to build the theatre corridor up in Toronto, and money grabbing is destroying it.
A wonderful experience in a comfortable theatre amazing how each time Dame Angela walked on the stage all eyes were glued to the stage.Cast was marvellous, scenery and lighting professional. Sadly we realized that we really do not like Noel Coward or his play.I would not have missed the opportunity to see Dame Angela--may she continue to enjoy a long and prosperous career. All cast members gave forth that little extra that put the performance over the top.
This is an excellent theatre - comfortable seats, decent concession stand. Seats in the Dress Circle were perfect. Be prepared to walk up a few flights of stairs to get to the Dress Circle and Balcony. There are elevators, but it's a long wait when everyone is entering/exiting at the same time.Stellar Cast! Dame Angela Lansbury as Madame Arcati; Charles Edwards as Charles Condomine; Jemima Rooper as Elvira; Charlotte Parry as Ruth Condomine; Susan Louise O'Connor as Edith; Sandra Shipley as Mrs Bradman; Simon Jones as Dr BradmanDirector, Michael Blakemore's take on Blithe Spirit is a triumph!
I love this theatre. I have seen many shows here and can not wait to return! It is such a beautiful place and great seats no matter what seat you get! I look forward to the next show I get to see here!
We were lucky enough to catch ‘The Book of Mormon’ on their Canada Tour, which was amazing. Attending at least one show or musical at the Theatre is definitely worth it! Note: Check their website beforehand and book your tickets at least a week in advance. If you want good seats, it’s best to buy directly from the Box Office. Prepare to be there half an hour before the show begins.
This is a beautiful theater and no matter where you sit you will have a good seat.We have been here several times, most recently it was to enjoy a film during TIFF. We were up in the nosebleeds and still enjoyed the movie and the commentary with the celebs afterwards.
My boyfriend and I booked ticket's to see Blades on Stage 1.5 months in advance. I was a little discouraged because so many great deals were available closer to the date. When we arrived, the usher told us to go to the box office because there was a surprise for us. Since the upper balcony (where our seats were) did not have many tickets bought, we were upgraded to first row lower balcony. This was my first theater experience since I was a child, and it was AMAZING! The performers from Blades on Stage were EXCELLENT. The entire night was simply FABULOUS!
We Donny and Marie's Christmas show. the show was excellent. They have so much energy and truly look like they enjoy what they do. The theatre is beautiful and great view of the stage from anywhere in the theatre. the also have a great .snack bar and adult beverages. They have underground parking and lots of restaurants nearby.
What a marvelous theatre. Plenty of washroom facilities, nice, comfortable waiting areas, seats in theatre are plush and comfortable. Be prepared for lots of traffic congestion and taking your time exiting.
Great seats, comfortable, quick bar service, clean toilets, friendly staff. Found the seats were quite close together so you had to stand up to let other customers get by.
We went to the show since we were in town. The performers were top notch. I liked the story line, but wasn't so thrilled with how it was delivered. Not a show that I would want my parents or my grandchildren to attend with me. I like to think that I am open minded and can appreciate differences and can see the talent involved with this show. I just would have been uncomfortable had I suggested it to others and had to sit through it with them.
Awesome!!!! Sad to see it go! Been many times and other than having a larger man sitting beside me in my $130 seat the evening with my beautiful wife was perfect
