The park is alive during the summer but most popular is the Kempenfest Weekend where an aray of outdoor markets feature crafts and food items. good entertainment as well.
Our city attracts so many out of towners for our waterfront park that we now charge visitors for parking.Canada geese make walking hazardous because of poop.
I was new to Barrie and heard about this Beach. I took my family and they were thrilled. We had a great beach to lay on, the water was nice and we also had a great playground for the older kids. The grass was Very well kept and know I will be returning this summer to have more fun.Great place to just sit and watch the water go by. I love it. Awesome place for a picnic or just to be lazy.
covered in snow and ice but what an experience - stood on the lake and took some amazing frosty photos
Open beautiful clean lake. Deep waters so very cold until August for swimming but on hot days a refreshing experience. Started to charge for beach parking a BiT disappointing
The city of Barrie has done much to create and maintain this waterfront area. What you see now used to be water. The lake used to come all the way up to the train tracks. Now we have a lovely walking area, marina, playground, roadways, and a few condo buildings. This place can become quite crowded during the summer, but nobody really minds because it's so nice to be by the lake. There are lots of ducks and geese. I've even seen a turtle. We don't really swim down there, but go ahead if you wish.
Excellent running trail around the lake front. The best time of the day is first thing in the morning. You will meet several other runners on route but it isn't too busy.
Unlike many towns, Barrie has maintained access to the waterfront to the masses. You will see families, swimming, picnicking, playing and many more activities. There are so many activities and attractions at this location!
The City of Barrie has a wonderful waterfront. Great time there for singles, couples, and families. Whether there is a special event or just an ordinary day...no visit to the waterfront is ever ordinary. Prepare to share the park with the ducks and geese. Enjoy the breezes from Kempenfelt Bay or in the winter dogsled rides on the Bay. Enjoy!!
the idea of having a park just right on the beach for kids to have fun after swimming is a great idea that makes me prefer to go their each summer .
It is well planned and in a lovely spot on the beachfront. There is something there for all ages and the equipment is in good, safe condition.
we walked the beach / waterfront area..but disappointed about paying $3.00 hr. for parking..very busy area,bicyclists,walkers..nice to see al boats docked and the sailboats out in the water..
Enjoyed the sandy beach, kids playground, change room facilities and nice to see an on duty life guard as well.Only problem was the price of ice-cream at the booth - single scoop of hard ice cream was $4.00 - not sure I get why it was so costly but we skipped paying such an exorbitant price.
Nice size playground on artificial beach. Next to the lake. Plenty of parking (not too expensive) and overall a very good spot to bring your portable grill and spend the day having fun with the kids and friends. We had a great time.
Great walking trail along the water. There is a swimming platform also. The plants along the way attract lovely butterflies and the benches under the willows offer welcome respite from the sun. Just a lovely, enchanted place!
