I love this place, but I have to say my favourite time to go is during the winter when it's just so quiet and you get a chance to really look at and appreciate the animals.
We always have a blast at the zoo. The kids love the animals. The grownups love the how exhausted the kids are at the end of the day when they go to bed without complaining after running around all day. Great day out for the family.
This is an awesome place to take your children. We use it a lot. The splash pad is great in the summer. The kids love the Otters and where else can you spend a day for free. It is clean and the train ride is always a crowd pleaser! We have had several family functions at the zoo! Its a great place to have a birthday party too!
First of all it is free! The kids enjoyed every thing about this zoo. There are animals, splash pad, playground, and a mini-train that goes across the river (small fee).
Small enclosures, animals look bored and forlorn, not enough shelter from the cold....completely unnatural to keep animals in captivity in the first place, but this is terrible. Our twin boys, aged 9, took more interest in the train ride and just hated seeing the animals "locked up". We visited at the end of Summer, but regularly drive by in Winter and always saddened to see the animals left outdoors. The geese regularly walk along busy Water St. risking traffic and seem to have no personnel to protect them. Awful.
If you want a relaxing couple of hours, this is an easy great walking zoo. If you bring kids there is a splash park, playground, and zoo trail with passport stations the kids can get stamped and learn about the animals.
Hi Here in Peterborough we have the Riverview park and Zoo. This is a great place to hold some outdoor events such as picnics , Family reunions birthday party's or just relax along the river or on the small Island, There is a water park with large clean change rooms to cool off on those hot summer days then take a stroll in the zoo and check out all the animals as you work your way to the train, The train is a delightful ride for all ages and is the only thing in the park and zoo that has a cost to use which is a very small amount . P.S. bring something to feed the wild ducks along the river and best to come early as this is a very popular spot in Peterborough
Great place for families. Lots to do and see. Great picnic areas for functions. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to take the kids without spending a fortune.
Food outlet closed for of season but we had a coffee nice day all the animals seemed to be out watch out for the camels they spit lol.
It is a good place to take the kids for a picnic and to see the animals and play in the water park.Picnic area was clean and well maintained, the animals were well looked after.
Great new splash pad and playground as well as the animal exhibits. Well kept. Lots of free parking as well. And a focus fun spot is the train ride!
Park and Zoo provide a fun, economical outing especially for families with young children. Zoo appears to care well for animals with frequent upgrades to animal housing. The play ground and water park are well used and maintained well.Train ride is fun with some unique surprises along the way.As there is no charge, except for train ride, Peterborough has done well to provide a family friendly attraction for both its residents and visitors
Its a free entry, free parking, you can take your own food or it has food kiosks, tons of playground spaces with different equipment in each area. Beautiful green space with a zoo to check out some animals. Good selection of animals to see, but keep in mind its not the Toronto zoo by any means on the animal sides of things and you wont be disappointed. The kids can play for hours alone on the playground sites as well as the splash pad for the warmer weather. We were very happy with the decision to check this place out. The tuff part was getting the kids back to the car!!
This zoo is a great place to get away for a little family time!! I have been going here since being a kid myself, it has been a pleasure to watch it grow and change over the years. Currently I take my 85 year old mother-in-law here during the non-winter months for a Alzheimer's Walk which is coordinated by the local Alzheimer's chapter. She thoroughly enjoys this 1 1/2 hour stroll. Gets her out of the nursing home at least once per week. Best of all, the admission is free!!
An amazing little zoo. Kids can play, enjoy the splash pad and learn from volunteers about the animals and all is free.
