Excellent venue with great performances. Very friendly staff from coat-checks to box-office to ushers to drink vendors. Everyone has a smile and is willing to help you and is looking or you to have a good time. My wife and I like to go there a few times a year as it has very good productions. The seating is comfortable with good acoustics. We recently watched a showing of a locally made movie in there. I would not recommend movies to be watched here but you can't go wrong with a play. Absolutely worth the value.
Love the entertainment, and the pre-order drinks and food for the break is brilliant, our drinks were waiting for us at our table when we came out during the break.
This is a reconverted turn of the century school who's exterior was kept as a heritage building. It was added to in the back to make up the stage and seating area and hosts numerous amateur plays throughout the year. The acting is superb and the choice of plays is varied to suit different tastes. If you ever visit Thunder Bay and a play is on, don't hesitate to get tickets for the performance, if you can as the venue is usually sold out.
Wonderful theatre with professional productions. The sound quality, seating and service is great. It is an intimate theatre and we attend a few plays a year.
Comfy sized room makes the theatre experience memorable. Comedy, drama, music- priced right. Located 3 blocks west of our marina with eateries within easy walking distances-
We are so fortunate in Thunder Bay. Magnus theatre gives lovers of live theatre a choice of productions each season. We have been entertained by comedy, drama and musicals. My husband and I attend with friends, impressed by the quality of acting, musical arranging and the stage settings. The intimacy of the theatre is a great asset to each production. I would highly recommend Magnus theatre.
Great from beginning to end. A lot of good talent up on that stage. I don't know how they keep up the energy. Recommended it to everyone we met.
Absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this to EVERYONE! Best production I have even see at Magnus As good as The Jersey Boys was when I saw in Vegas in December. Thanks for a fun-filled night.
Just can't get excited about their safe, repetative line up... Tired actors doing the same set list year after year... how look another 2nd rate Norm Foster romantic comedy... or the singing post-mistress... painful... at its best with a travelling show, imported director and artistic manager...
Every time I go, I am so impressed with the shows - how everyone who is involved with the theatre mingles with the guests...the place co-creates a fabulous experience for each patron. Will always return again and again.
The play was excellent. The house was only about a third full, which was good for a very rainy, cool Tuesday night. The two actresses were able to change gender, age and nationality to fill out the many roles, but it was always easy to follow. The theatre itself was really comfortable. I was towards the middle back, and had no trouble seeing or hearing, and the seat was fine. The lighting and set was very creative. The costumes were simple, as they had to be to adapt. There seems to be a lot of community financial support for the theatre, and it is well-deserved, if that play was an indication. Nice variety of plays, and I wish I could see more.
My husband and I saw A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline tonight at the Magnus Theater. The music was great, the singer was wonderful. This small theater is something Thunder Bay should be very proud to support.
We were in town for a couple of days and caught a performance. The set was really nice, the acting was great, and the facility is very nice. Our seats were very good and we were near the back. We really enjoyed the experience.
If you get a chance to see a show while visiting in Thunder Bay you won't be disappointed in the calibre of offerings at Magnus Theatre. Artistic director, Mario Crudo, brings in talent from all over Canada and throughout North America each season. The theatre is dark on Sunday, but offers a Wednesday and Saturday matinee. Very reasonably priced.
Wonder productions by professionals in a theater that is obviously the pride and joy of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Story themes reflect the local and first nation history and cultures. Well worth the time, and an easy walk from downtown Thunder Bay [North].
