A nice place , park and falls in the middle of the city, good place for picnic, not a tourist attraction
Beautiful small falls marking the split in the Rideau River and the Rideau Canal. A jewel inside Ottawa itself.
Nice place to visit and kick up a lawn chair and relax. Just south of the falls is Mooney Bay Beach and North is Vincent Massey Park to picnic or attend special events that occur throughout the summer/fall season
a nice place to visit in the summer or winter, very beautiful falls and nice area to have a picnic, walk a dog or just sit on a bench feeding the ducks or geese. Mooney's Bay or the Kayak club is close by as well as the locks. a nice calm afternoon
This is a fun place to walk, but you really need a car for ease of access. Hogs Back Falls adjoin Mooney's Bay and Vincent Massey park to complete the visit. Mooney's Bay has outdoor swimming in the bay complete with beach. You can barbecue at Vincent Massey Park, or bring a picnic. If you rent a bike, then biking along the canal to Hog's Back Falls makes for a nice day outing.
It's enchanting at Hog's Back Falls. Plus the good ions make you feel blissful as you stand next to the beautiful landscape and waterway.Lovely scenery
Located south of the downtown area, I visited the Falls with a friend from out of town. We enjoyed leaning up against the railing and watching the water rush through. Then we walked the trails and enjoyed some ice cream at the shop on site.
I've been here a number of times. I often like to take people that have not seen them. Observation of the falls is along two sides but best is to cross the bridge. Make sure you being your camera. Parking is free. You will spend no more than an hour here but worth it to visit. Anytime of year is good.Recommended.
Hog's Back Falls is worth a visit when showing Ottawa to visitors - or as an outing with kids. Choose your visit according to the season. Winter is great with icy rocks and snow covered trees, but it's cold and the paths can be slippery. The best time to visit is at spring thaw. Then the water level is high, the rate of flow is dramatic and you can cross the dam to see the falls from both sides. A quick visit in summer shows you how low the water can be, but is still pleasant - and fall colours, are worth a visit as well.
We love visiting the falls any time of year. Our favorite is the summer when it is easier to make a day out of it and walk the paths. Lots of green space to be able to pack and lunch and find a quiet spot. We also. like the fact that they have added an outdoor restaurant, seating is hard to find though when it is busy. Unfortunately, some people use the seating to have a packed lunch they have brought. May I suggest bringing a blanket and save the seating for customers.
I visited this place during winter and it was very alone only me was walking around there was nobody. For me it is the best because I was able to walk around without any complication and on my own step... the view is also very beautiful, some of the water is freezed and it gives you a beautiful panoramic... Totally worth it the walk
I enjoyed walking to the falls from a friend's place but these are not falls per se. It was a fun afternoon because of the company. I took some interesting pictures but would not visit again.
Just hearing the sounds of rushing water while still being close to the city is nice, but the way the city set it up allows you to get close to the action.I recommend a visit if you want a break from the city.
I visit a few times of the year in different season but by far I love the winter the best. Just looking at the falls with snow and ice is really a majestic view. As well, it is not crowded at this time of the year and you can still go for a nice long walk.In summer it is best to get there early as it can be very busy. Besides the trails are nicer to walk early morning.
Hogs back fall is connected to a few biking trails so its a nice destination to visit, nice park in the summer close to the beach very beautiful part of Ottawa
