Outside parliament. Ottawa city centre is a jewel. I loved Ottawa and its people. All around war memorial was white, snowy but people were skating on the canal nearby and strolling around! The monument is a nice sculpture!

Likely the most beautiful monument dedicated to remembering the sacrifices of Canada's war dead. You have to see the figures to really understand what this monument is all about...men, women, sailors, airmen, soldiers and medics/nurses...even kilts! And then there's the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier...if it doesn't strike a chord in you, I don't know what will. My favourite part of Ottawa.

A beautiful memorial close to the Parliament Buildings. Two military Personnel were respectfully guarding the monument when I was there. Don't know if this is normal, but it added to the sense of reverence.

A sombre but meaningful monument right in the hear of Ottawa. Peaceful and a place for quiet meditation.

A beautiful memorial minutes from the Parliament building. Stop admire the Memorial and think of our heroes both alive and dead. Never forget!

This is a beautiful memorial in Ottawa. With recent events it is a shame that they don't guard the tomb regularly

It's only across the street from Parliament. Go see the tomb of the unknown soldier if you have time....it's all close to the byward market.

We wanted to pass by the cenotaph to honour the soldier who was shot and killed during the events of late last year. It was sobering and very moving... it made for a weepy drive across the bridge to Hull.

This was a must see on our trip and we weren't' disappointed. Full of history and you can easily spend a full day here. Highly recommended.

If you are ever in Ottawa make sure you check out this monument when you visit the parliment. Such a great attraction!

After the tragedy it gives us even more reason to go and give our respects to those who have fought for our freedom. I recommend everyone go and pay their respects.

Very close to the Parliament Builings on Rideau, it is easy to walk over and view this monument . It is impressive and reminds one of the part Canada played in the world wars. As well, in view of the recent terrorist attack on this site, this small piece of Canadian history has even more meaning.

The whole family enjoyed this museum. Lots to see and many interactive displays. The best part is the 100 or so vehicles on display.

Ensure you visit the War Memorial whilst you are in Ottawa. When we arrived we heard a bag piper and wondered what was going on...To our surprise it was a ceremony on the changing of the guards who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This apparently happens every hour (during the day time). We saw this only a few days before a soldier was shot....We were saddened by this event.

This is among the most beautifully crafted monuments to the war dead I have ever seen.Originally built in around 1940 to commemorate Canadians who died in the 1914-18 World War I, it is now dedicated to all those who died in subsequent conflicts too. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier here was only added in the year 2000.The figures are larger than life size and convey a true sense of the awfulness and futility of war. The soldiers all wear historically correct Canadian uniforms and were deliberately designed to reflect the country's wide ranging ethnicity. They are truly remarkable.
