They have art for all tastes and budgets, from souveniers to world class art. There are original paintings, prints, carvings, minerals, antler art, murals etc.
Some big names of the Canadian Art world, but felt it was out of sync in most of displays, could be given a miss if you are not the arty type-good pit stop to visit the loo and stretch your legs.
Very nice art available here with some crafts to purchase. Unique. They even looked like they had some art classes. Interesting in the middle of such a huge park. Had restrooms too. Great stop.
After years of visiting the park, this was actually our first time going in to the Art Centre and definitely won't be our last. The range and quality of work on display is simply amazing, and a beautiful addition to the enjoyment of the stunning natural beauty of the park.
This beautiful centre has a wonderful collection of accomplished and amateur Algonquin based art as well a great gift store. Need to address the mouldy odor which is overwhelming when you enter the building.
There is some very beautiful work inside this art centre. One thing I'll point out that I really appreciated is that if you are approaching from the east, on the stairs leading to the main building there is a very large CLOSED sign that will save you from pulling into the lot. Very helpful for saving you the turn in. Of course if it is open, the sign is removed :)I was really impressed by some of the work. The detail on some are just incredible. Just remember, even though this gallery isn't in a downtown metropolis, the prices are high enough to make you think you are, but I don't judge that at all. This place is well worth the stop if you enjoy art.
This art center had amazing artwork. Its free and worth a stop (even though it was raining a bit when I arrived.). There are various things to see such as paintings and sculptures by various artists from Canada. Although I did not make a purchase, I was impressed by the quality of the art center.
The art centre is full of really beautiful things, we spent hours taking in all the different paintings, ornaments, jewellery etc. If only we we didnt have a baggage allowance!
This is a nice little art gallery, and free as well (it’s supported by donation if you find it worthwhile), so it’s worth a stop. They had a number of paintings and some sculptures by various Canadian artists when we were there (I believe they rotate at least some of the artwork). Most or all of it was for sale as well, if you happen to find something you really like. They had a couple of bird sculptures, made out of some type of wood that appeared to have been curved somehow by the artist, that were very cool. It doesn’t take much time to view the small gallery, and it provides a nice break from the heat, bugs, etc.
Great sight lines, nice seating, solid acoustics...a really enjoyable concert expeince both time we have attended the theatre. The staff is mostly retired volunteers and tend to be a little less than knowledgeable about the events and process so one needs to be patient...its no Massey Hall...but a great venue for Muskoka
This was a surprise treat for us- we decided to stop here during our day trip to Algonquin and were pleasantly surprised by the talent, beauty and craftsmanship of the paintings, photos, sculptures and other pieces of work. A real treasure and find.
Lovely gallery in a beautiful setting. Check ahead for the summer art classes/activities. Had we known, we would have scheduled our visit to include a class. They are well-priced, include materials, and are a special souvenir of a wonderful place. I had never seen the exquisite work of fiber artist, Sylvia Naylor, and was delighted to see her creations on display. Really appreciated being able to view the works of so many talented Canadian artists.
worth a stop.. lovely work, this year's theme is Canadian shield. They have many works by local artist, or at least Canadian arts , nice to see
I don't pretend to know anything about art. But I thought the work on display was very impressive. I'm glad I stopped in.
Beautiful location, a nice respite on a drive through the park. The art is displayed in a few pretty rooms, and there is a nice gift shop.
