we did not realize this memorial was here....was a peaceful place! so very well done...such a tragedy, but what a heartfelt tribute... benches to just sit and reflect on why you are there..we were very grateful to have found this memorial.

The location and the solitude is appropriate for such a memorial. A thoughtful place, yet not sad. Having lived here while it was happening and the feeling, stories, and families who were here, I am very glad that there is a place to come and think, pray or just be.

The area was so peaceful and allowed me to experience the land fully. The notion is sad, but I didn't feel sad, I felt honour and dignity as a fellow human being

This is well worth the stop if you are in the Peggy's Cove area. The memorial commemorates the 229 passengers lost in the crash of SwissAir flight 111 in 1998. The memorial overlooks the area of the Atlantic where the plane went done and searchers found debris. It is a simple monument carved from the local stone. Just off the highway there is a parking lot that connects to a path that leads you down to the monument - about a 5 to 10 minute walk. As you walk down you can see the area where the plane went into the water. The monument is simple yet moving. If you go, pause to reflect on what happened here and the many lives affected by the crash; not only the families of the plane crash victims but also the toll it took on the rescuers and searchers.

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic are two large granite stones facing towards the crash site. A peaceful location and a fitting memorial to those who lost their lives about Swiss Air 111.

Reading the memorial then looking at the size of Peggy's Cove ... it is pretty amazing how such a small community played such a large part in this tragedy. The view is lovely. It is wonderful they are preserving the memory of those who did not survive.

Swissair Flight 111 crashed into St. Margaret's Bay in l998 and this is one of two memorials. A short walk brings you to the memorial site where information boards explain what happened and by following their instructions you can see exactly where the aircraft crashed. So much tragedy has happened in the waters around Nova Scotia but all the memorial sites dedicated to these tragedies are well looked after.

This is a memorial that just makes you grateful to be alive. Having read about this and then watching the television documentary many years ago, we were determined to visit and pay tribute, not just to the people who tragically died, but also to the brave locals who courageously helped. The memorial is just so appropriately done and you must take time out to be part of this.Leigh and Scott, Nelson, New Zealand.

Even if you have no interest in the story of the airplane, you should visit this place for the beautiful scenery. The rocks and ocean waves are fantastic

One of 2 memorials to Swissair flight 111 in Nova Scotia, this one is located a few minutes from Peggys Cove. It is located in the barren lands surrounding the immediate vicinity of Peggys Cove and consists of a parking lot, that is really only for cars and pick-ups, buses and large RV's would find it very tight.A short about 1/4 walk along a well maintained and clearly marked path takes you to the site of the memorial.A display board in the parking lot explains the rationale for having 2 memorials so close together and additional displays at the site provide additional information. The 3 cut-outs in the stone point to the direction of the crash site in the ocean.

nice location and good memorial, but totally wheelchair inaccessible; my friend had to say in the parking lot and see my pictures (which were great because the view is great)

From Peggy's Cove, just a short drive, a place to remember, who lost their lives in a plane crush. The place is interesting but it will touch your soul by it's serenity and peacefulness.

There's not much there, just a monument and a description. But I learned something from visiting it that I didn't know before.

A most moving memorial in a spectacular location - don't miss it or it's matching memorial on the other side of the bay.

I learnt about the Swiss flight desaster only when we traveled to Canada. The Memorial was highly impressing.
