1) Halifax Waterfront/boardwalk – Interesting shopping (although a little touristy) and places to eat. Usually buskers along the boardwalk. Great view of the harbour and the boats/tall ships that come into dock. You can also board some of the boats for a tour.

This place is absolutely lovely during the summer months. with numerous restaurants and bars to chose from, you will never be bored. The boardwalk is kept clean and the harbour view is also a beautiful site to see.

I walk the Halifax boardwalk almost weekly, and year-round, in all weather.I was brought up near the water and you'd think I would take it for granted by now - I don't. I never tire of our waterfront, and our harbour. It's one of the many "attractions" that help me to love my adopted home.Visitors, be warned: Halifax is catching.

The boardwalk is a "do it yourself" adventure. Some will stroll, pausing to enjoy the views or read the historical and cultural plaques on the art and memorials. There are lots of benches for those wanting some restful breaks. The museum (entrance fee) has a maritime focus with lots of information-- from the Halifax Explosion to shipwrecks. I saw several entertainers busking for the crowds. Of course, there are restaurants and shops, too.

One of my fave spots in the summer. Free WIFI. Movies on Friday nights in the summer. Lots to do and see. :)

Went for a walk down to the boardwalk in -10C weather, it was well worth it. Spectacular views and a great walk along the water. I can only imagine how beautfiul it would be in warmer weather.

Visited during the summer and was quite busy. That being said it was very enjoyable.Lots of small shops and food vendors. My daugter and I tried raw oyster, She loved me not so much. I did enjoy the pork sandwich available from one of the vendors. Later on we had fish and chips .. really good.Along the boardwalk you have wonderful views of the harbour as well as the downtown core of Halifax. Just across the harbour you have the dartmouth waterfront.

Beautiful view of the harbor and sites and sounds of downtown Halifax. Many great little pubs, restarants and shops to visit. Enjoy a ferry ride to Dartmouth to see more of what the harbor has to offer.

We recently visited the Halifax Waterfront just after a big snow storm in February. For the most part it was free of snow and was a pleasant stroll down by the water. It was, however, freezing as the wind off the water really blows there. I would love to return in summer.

This is a great walk to do and a must for those visiting Halifax. In December the weather started off extremely cold but by the end of my trip it had turned unseasonably warm. I did the boardwalk in both conditions and must say it was enjoyable both times. The first time (cold) I did a very brisk walk and ended up at the market (had a nice hot coffee and wander before my return trip). On the second walk (warm for the time of year) it was a more gentle stroll with time to take in all the sights and sounds of the surroundings. A lovely walk - enjoy!

The boardwalk has lots of attractions, some really good restaurants on the water's edge. There are also benches along the boardwalk, so one may sit and look out over the water and chill. I also spent some time listening to a great bagpiper who played everything from Amazing Grace, to the theme from Star Wars to something akin to jazz. Jazz bagpiper--go figure. It was summer, so an annual festival was in full swing (Buskers, I think it was called); so the boardwalk was very crowded. I saved my strolls for the daytime when there was less traffic.

We checked out the gift shops and bought a couple of souvenirs. The boardwalk should be updated with some better restaurants and performers. But it was a nice walk.

I'm biased about the Halifax Waterfront, having lived here my entire life, but it's a lovely stroll with the smell of the sea hanging in the air, some great sights (especially tall ships, which you can tour the harbor on) and some equally great food sold in the kiosks. It's a bit touristy and it's packed in the summer, but there's always something going on.
