My wife and I go there regularly during the spring/summer/autumn. It is a beautiful place for a stroll or quiet reflection. Located a 40 minute drive from Truro, it is indeed a lovely place to spend the evening.
Grew up on this water and it was an amazingly beautiful place to enjoy many of nature's creations. Sandy beach, rock formations that were centuries old. Fishing, fun rocks of all shapes and colors, swimming off the wharf on both sides. All that was spoiled when the Provincial government made a decision to take the wharf away. A new party in local politics had an alternate wharf rebuilt which was very welcomed....one bad huge flaw...the company that was awarded the contract of replacing this welcomed wharf, hauled thousands of tons of boulders to this site...thousands of tons too much. This has spoiled the enjoyment that a wharf is meant for. Can you imagine what this error cost, what could have been done with these wasted dollars? Go there and see what it turned out to be. Imagine what it would be like if it had been replaced properly. We had sand beach area on both sides...go see what has happened.
This provincial park has a red pebbly/sandy beach, wharf, interpretive panels, and a place to wash off - which comes in handy! Beautiful at low tide and for sunsets, perfect for picnics - almost never crowded. Great stop on the way to or from Burncoat Head park, another can't-miss along the 215. Good for kids and dogs to run around :)
