The Cape Split hike is a must do for anyone in the vicinity. It is not hard and the view at the end is amazing. The hike takes about 4 hours (2 hours out, 2 hours back) at a decent pace. Remember to take into account when sunset is and ensure you're on track to be off the trail before then (we went 2 days ago, and we had to hoof it to make sure we were out by the 430pm sunset). It was very muddy and boggy in several areas so be prepared - wear waterproof shoes and bring an extra pair of socks just in case (at one point, my husband misjudged the depth of the mud and it went over his boot line, requiring a change of socks). Much of the first hour out is uphill so some basic fitness is necessary. We were four adults and had no problems, we left our small kids (aged 10 to 3 between the four of us) at home as that age group might find it just a bit too hard and a bit too long. The hike is good exercise and the view at the end is spectacular.

Me and my family a little while ago had gone on this hike and I would really like to go again but just based on my experience before I had so much fun and well worth the hike when you get to the top because it has such a beautiful view. It was a bit of an elevated hike at the start and has a lot of uphill climbing but once you get closer to the top it levels out. It has good clear trails and easy to navigate. Once you reach the top it is so beautiful it is an awesome spot for a picnic and a good family bonding hike. I even enjoyed climbing back down the trail because it goes a lot faster but is still fun! I really recommend you try it out.

Not a difficult hike and the results are so rewarding. Crazy beautiful views, and unlike any hike we've ever done. Highly recommend!!!

This trail is out in the middle of nowhere but well worth the drive. We hiked this trail in Late September and almost had the place to ourselves. Someone had made really nice walking sticks for you to use on the hike that has some elevation climb at the start but flattens out once you meet the ridge. There are several places along the ridge that you can walk out and get some super views of the cliffs and the Bay. When you get to the point it is all worth the effort.

Some of the best views on this side of the Bay of Fundy. The trail is fairly level with some gradual elevation changes. There is no where to get water. Keep your dogs on leash because there are very high cliffs with loose edges and there have been a number of dogs killed over the years. The beach path is excellent also but know your tides, do not go along the beach trail unless the tide is on the way out when you get there.

We make it a point to walk this trail every year in the fall and always enjoy. A great way to spend an afternoon with family or friends. Anyone of any age should be able to make this hike as long as they are able to walk on there own. It's a pretty good hike so you would need to be average health, the view at the end is a great reward and well worth it. We recommend bringing some snacks, water, camera with some comfortable shoes. A few area's can be a little muddy or wet depending on the time of year.

The hike is fairy easy; wide, some roots and mud, slight elevation gain. The hike ends with an open grassy area with good views. If you are looking to have a picnic plan about 1.5 - 2 hours to get to get to the good view at the end. If it's not windy then lucky you, enjoy. If it is windy there's another picnic area that also has a view but is sheltered. After enjoying the main view head back the trail. Before you leave the open grassy area and enter the woods look to your left. There is a side path that leads into the woods and soon has a decent view, and is sheltered from the wind. There is no picnic table or anything, but it is a peaceful and secluded spot to eat lunch. As always, stay back from the cliff and pack out all your garbage.

This hike is 5 miles one way, but it doesn't seem that long. It is a pretty easy hike, with some roots on the trail and some muddy spots. There is a bit of climbing, but not bad. The view at the end it totally amazing and so worth the hike! It is very, very windy out on the open overlook at the end of the trail, hold on to your hat! Someone has made and left for others to use, a variety of hiking sticks that were very useful to us on this hike! Thanks to the person who was so thoughtful!

I went with a non hiker and she had no problems with the 10 miles. I just hope the average person reads the warnings and carries plenty of water. This hike is mainly through the forest and finally the reward of the Bay of Fundy.

Try to start early so you can spend time at the Split to view both low and high tides. Bring food and drink.

I most say the scenery at the Cape is just worth the trail. The trail has other little hidden lookouts but none as gorgeous as the main one. The web site of the trail says it is of moderate difficulty, although there were families with young children hiking that day.All in all a very beautiful and relaxing day out by the water.

very busy trail but wonderful hike. Be ready for a long hike - minimum 4 hours - 7.5 km in to a spectacular view. Couldn't believe the number of hikers but at least it made you feel there were people around should anything happen.

A nice, moderate hike that is becoming increasingly popular. There were about 75 cars in the parking lot when we arrived at noon on a warm Saturday early in September. By starting a bit later, in the day, most of the people had already left the cape by the time we arrived after an hour and 20 minute walk. The trail always has a few wet spots, but the bedrock is so close to the surface that the mud isn't deep, and only a hazard if you are wearing new white sneakers:) . There isn't much of a breeze when you are hiking through the woods, so it can get pretty warm. The cape is a sloping meadow atop sheer 150 m cliffs. It's almost always windy there, but it was warm and sunny. We ate a picnic on the grass and just enjoyed the day. The views are magnificent, and it was with great reluctance that we turned around and headed back. Definitely one of our favourite hikes in Nova Scotia. The only word of warning is that the cliffs are sheer and very high - we wish people wouldn't go quite so close to the edge...

Great hike with a great view. It took us a little less than 4 hours round trip, including stopping to take in the scenery and have lunch at the top.

Takes about 3 hours round trip but plan on a bit longer to explore the cape....So beautiful!Take lots of water as it can be very warm even with the tree cover. A snack or small lunch is always nice while on the cape. We have not taken our kids age 3 and 5 as there are a few spots that children and adults need to stay away from. The most dangerous part is when on the cape the edges can fall out from under you as the tide has washed the land out from underneath. So be very careful and obey the signs!
