The PEI Brewing Company is a worthwhile stop in Charlottetown. The brewery is actually quite large- there's a store, the bar, a few areas to sit, a whole other event space, and a small room upstairs. It's one of the larger breweries I have been to. There's a good deal of parking available at the brewery as well.I liked that the brewery offered different choices for tours. I elected for the cheapest one, which was $10. That gets you the tour and 2 tasting glasses of PEI Brewing beer of your choice. Now, I've been to dozens of breweries in the U.S. and Canada, and this is one of the least amounts of beer I've ever received. I simply didn't want to pay $20 for the tour with additional beer. Most breweries want to push their beer so that you'll purchase more and hopefully become a lifelong fan. That wasn't the case here.I drank my two tasting glasses before the tour even began- I tried the Pumpkin Ale and the Sir John A's Honey Wheat. Both beers were good. I definitely can't criticize the quality of the beer, only the quantity. The tour itself was interesting and informative. You got to see the entire brewery and learned some interesting facts about PEI Brewing. Our guide was pleasant and informative. If you're a fan of brewery tours or beer in general, I'd recommend a stop.
This is one of the poorest music venues I have had the misfortune to visit. The acoustics are simply *terrible* -- so bad in fact, that we could not distinguish one work the opening act said or sang, and considered leaving. had we not driven some distance, and paid for tickets, we might have left at that point. We did stick it out, and the main show was more audible, but the experience was largely ruined by the poor acoustics of the room.Negatives: Very poor acoustics. Not enough seating by half. The many people standing around were often guilty of adding to the acoustic problems by talking loudly, but who can blame them, since it was nearly impossible to enjoy the show. The monitor in the lobby showed a football match, rather than what was going on onstage (and the acoustics were so bad that it was impossible to tell if the band had started, even though the lobby is very close to the stage). Positives: Excellent beer, and a great selection of beer. Lots of bartenders, and good bar service. Awesome decor; well worth a visit, but ten to music!
This is my favourite "pit stop" for a quick beer and is also a good spot to hang out for a chat with a pal. The location has plenty of parking and service is usually fast, friendly and knowledgeable (other than when the venue is hosting a concert or other big event). It's a working brewery that has a spacious bar with comfortable seating available. No blasting music or sports on TV. Great beer selection on tap, with seasonal and specialty items changing periodically. The tours they offer are interesting, but it's a fine place to just stop for a pint...or a $2 sample...or a "flight" of 8 different tasters. You can pick up kegs, growlers for filling/refilling and bottled beer. This is a beer joint, so don't go expecting food and wine. If you like beer, it's worth a visit and may become a regular stop. The place also sells a bunch of t-shirts and tourist swag if you want to buy stuff other than beer. It's also an OK place to take children.
We loved our tour of the brewery. Very nice, modern and clean facility. Staff was super friendly and greeted us nicely. Beer is also quite good! :)
Had a great time here for a concert at the Blues Festival. Great sound, Pizza, space and beer! Very cool building! Just gotta dance when here for a concert...very limited seats
My parents and I did the Tour on August 21 at 5pm. The girl who did the tour was not great. I speak English very well and had a hard time to understand what she was saying. She was speaking too fast and did not articulate. No eye contact with the public. Her speech was learnt by heart and said like a prayer. My parents didn't undersand anything. A recorded commentary tour would have done a much better job. There was only a question period at the end of the tour. The quality of the beer would deceive most beer fans from Quebec, where the variety and quality are beyond what we could taste there. A nice looking, modern facility though.
Fun trip w grown kids. Learned a lot( more than we expected) on how beer is made and had tastes of many different kinds ( including combos). Friendly tourguides really know their stuff
My husband, two friends and I did the $20 brewery tour on Aug 2. It was awesome, the facility is beautiful, the people very friendly and the beer is fantastic. While you can try most of the beer at the Gahan House Pub the tour of the brewery is worth it. You have the option of a $10 or a $20 tour, this includes 2 samples (you can purchase additonal samples for $2) the $10 tour doesn't give you any takehome beer. The $20 tour gives you 4pk takehome beer, so you are getting your tour for about $5, well worth it. They were planning a wedding while we were there, this never impacted our service or tour in the least. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly. After the tour you can sit and pay for as many pints as you like. You can sample all the beer they have on tap if you like, I think its 8 samples for $10 maybe. When we were done, they called us a cab and it was a great afternoon. I highly recommend it, especially if you like beachchair lager or any of the Gahan beer...my favorites were, Iron Bridge and Sir John A...Enjoy!
A great tour with great beer! We arrived 10 minutes before a scheduled tour, but found out that it was full. However, we were able to relax in the lounge with a beer for an hour or so beforehand. It was very comfortable, and gave us time to browse through the history posted on the walls. The tour itself was a great value - you can't beat the $20 tour (2 samples and 4 beers to take home). We both loved the beer, the Blueberry was my favorite.
My husband enjoyed a tour at this brewery and judging from the smile on his face and the beer collection in my fridge, I'd say it was well worth the minimal cost. Cozy brewery, great people.
The tour is $10 and includes 2 x 5oz samples plus a brief visit to the brewery to see their operations. It was well set up and the tour guide did a pretty good job. Their facility is awesome with a comfy bar on the main floor - couches, chairs and high top tables with stools. They also have a corporate store with branded swag to buy. They had a deal on for $10 pitchers - win! We were glad they brought us some pretzels to munch on while we drank.Only downside was a live musician playing who didn't think was very good - we would have sat longer if he hadn't been playing.Oh! And there's a free shuttle bus to take you there from downtown - sweet!
Visited from a cruise ship. There was a bus waiting to take us there and back the short few minute ride from the port with an incredibly friendly driver. The tour includes 2 small beers of your choice and only costs $10. We also tried the sampler which included a taste of each beer. On our cruise back to PEI we went right back there for a second time, the bus driver remembered us and so did the bar staff. All the beers were excellent using local produce. We were lucky to be able to meet the owner and also all the staff were exceptional. If you would like to try local beer this is a MUST venue - this comes from a reviewer who rarely gives an excellent rating!
It is very easy to find and the personal tours are amazing. I've been to Labatts in London, ON and that tour was not as personal. I had my own tour guide who was really helpful. This place caters private functions, even weddings! The atmosphere is great! Of course, the 4-pack samplers were of excellent value!
Took a ride off cruise ship to brewery company . Bus driver neat to visit with. Sample of beer was. Served by college gal with the BEST smile. Blueberry beer served to you and you set on a lovely couch and relax before the tour. Did not try different flavor because the blueberry beer is the BEST. Soft music and neat place to relax and have the beer. When going to Prince Edward Island I would put this on my top and first place to see and sample beer.
Went for a tour and a few beers It was very interesting to learn about the brewing process, and included with the price are a beer at the start and one at the end. They have some very unique and tasty flavours and it is nice to visit a smaller local company.
