This museum has some interesting finds for such a small town. I would recommend a visit for an introduction to the history of the Cariboo-Chilcotin region.
We arrived just a half hour before closing time, which was really too bad, because this is a very good museum. I was particularly interested in nearby 150 Mile House on the Cariboo wagon road and while the museum didn't have much on display for that, a helpful staff person was able to give me some very useful information. This museum bills itself as specializing in cowboy history and it does that in spades. I really wish I'd had more time to explore this in depth. Other features include a comprehensive exhibit on Rick Hansen (Man in Motion), pioneer life, a model train layout, beautiful First Nations beading, and a lot of emphasis on historical dental and medical equipment. Located in downtown Williams Lake, there is onsite parking and admission is by donation. Definitely worth a look, especially if you're into cowboy culture.
