Used to take the kida there once a year, only because we got free passes. Far too expensive for a whole family. The facilities are pretty old and outdated, and not too clean. Would far rather take a couple of days and go to cultus lake.
The pool and hot tub were super dirty. Cloudy and mirky. The hot tub wasn't even hot. I couldn't slide down the slides--I was stuck. The gelcoat on all the slides that make it slippery is all worn off. Never again! I am glad I didn't pay full price for this as I used a coupon. Great place to go if you want to catch a disease.
Take your kids to a different water park. This one is very dirty (dirt and unidentified black crud on the stairs and pathways). How about a serious pressure washing at the start of the season and at intervals in the season. Lots of rusting metal on view.No maintenance during the day, so old bandaids on the walkways, lots of debris in the ponds and pools. Filters can't keep up with the overcrowded pool conditions? Need to limit attendance? The Black Hole tower leaks like a sieve, so you receive a nice shower, of said dirty water, as you climb up the tower. The hot tub is overcrowded and so they deal with that with lots of chlorine. Smells gross.Bathrooms dirty with ponded water around the urinals- lovely to step through, and then drag your feet back out and into the pools! We showered twice when we got home to feel clean again. The sliding tubes are seriously worn, consequently very slow in spots, due to top layer worn off.Lineups for main slides move way too slowly, we and others waited 30-40 minutes at times. Get them moving quicker (polish and recoat the tubes would help!). They probably can't start anyone down the tubes until the bottom is cleared, because people could be caught in the tubes moving slowly.Just a very poorly run and maintained facility. 1000 people a day x $25/head. Spend some on maintenance!! AVOID THIS PARK!!!
I went there this weekend it was soo bad and dirty bad service and disgusting food slides sucked my dad felt bad for me and my cousin so he is taking us to cultus water park on thursday.
This place needs a major overhaul. I kind of felt like I was taking my life into my own hands. There was a big sign with a legal disclaimer at the entrance; they needed it. The wood at the top of the lazy river was rotting. The slides have no slipperiness to them. I literally had to butt-scoot my way down on two of them. I did not try the remaining two slides. They let too many people in; line-ups were frustratingly long. The dressing rooms and bathrooms are disgustingly in need of repair, renovation or a miracle. Personally, I would dismantle the whole park and start over again. Overall we were expecting a Robin Williams type experience and we ended up with a down and out Bozo.
Disappointed with the service - the staff were slow and unattentive. Won't visit here again, though I have visted others with far better service.
Spent the day at Splashdown yesterday....thank goodness for goodfriends and company because the condition of the slides and pool was terrible. The admission charge was steep ($24.99) considering everyone had to pay whether you were sliding or not. The icecream shop was poorly ventilated and the freezers couldn't even keep the ice cream frozen. I heard one person return their cone saying it tasted like throwup. Yikes! The pools were dirty and cloudy. Whatever filtration system they have was clearly not working. The water park area was dated and paint was chipping off the concrete. There were no kids playing here at all.The staff didn't seem concered about safety or maintenance when I told them one of our kids told me that a slide had a split in it and all the water was falling through the crack. It made the bottom part of the slide dry and they could slide on it. The staff member just shugged and said yeah we know about that already. The slide remained open. The top of the river raft staircase stunk like urine! I couldn't bring myself to ride the slide after smelling it.The change rooms were disgusting, again smelling like urine. The curtains used to cover the changroom openings were ripped and covered in mildew. The bathroom area was dirty and needed a good hose down! They do have a nice grass area to sit thank goodness because that is where I spent the entire day. I made my daughter shower twice when we came home.
Expensive. Can get very busy. It is rather dated and the water is tepid and often cloudy. Even when there are a billion kids there there is NEVER a queue at the toilet. Says it all.
There are no sights here .it is nowhere near stores or any place parents can be near by .i found it to be very costly
Good place to take your kids, starting to show it's age, but clean and tidy. Kids had a great time and we enjoyed it too!
Very pricey and run down. But the children loved it. Be sure to bring your own food and stay a while to get your monies worth. Plus the line ups can get crazy long.
Great park but for a family it ran a bit pricey if you can get coupons worth it to go and stay for the day with a picnic
Just came back from my first time at the park. After reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit apprehensive as I wondered about cleanliness and upkeep. My expectations were exceeded. The facility looked great, the lineups were not long, the kids had a great time on the tube rides, the water wasn't too chilly, and there was a hot tub for adults. My ratings are: Service 9Cleanliness 8.5Value 9Fun for young kids? Yes.
Splashdown is always a summertime classic outing, with the chaos, sunburns and all! However, to make your visit more enjoyable avoid days when there are dozens of summer camps visiting. The lineups for the slide get up to 45 min long. I've heard it's less busy on cooler days, but then you have to consider whether you will get cold.Watch out for kids cutting in line. It was actually a significant problem. No one wants to be the random adult yelling out "budger!!!!" like kids do, but a polite motion to the back of the line will make the point. More staff presence at splashdown would help with safety, tube stealers, and budgers alike.
We took the BC Ferries over for a day trip. We walked on the ferry to keep costs down and were easily able to take the bus from the ferry to the slides. Get off at the first stop and then about a 10 minute walk. Thankfully we were told before we went, that if you present your BC Ferry ticket to the gates you get two for 1 admission! Certainly makes the day more affordable. We visited as a family with 2 children age 4 and 9. I would say for our family the slides were perfect, they certainly gave us a days worth of entertainment. They are not over the top scary or thrilling, but were enough to keep us busy. We also packed a complete picnic as you are able to bring your own food and drink in.We would certainly look at doing this again!
