Such an enjoyable visit to this lovely beach..wish we could have stayed longer.Loved the beach combing and the sheltered bay
We live on Gabriola and love showing the park to visitors. It is easy to negotiate and has more challenging areas to the right of the parking lot. Vistas amazing. Something for everyone.
Beautiful park to walk in when the weather is nice. It has a beautiful view when walking around the ocean
Lots of places to explore. Barnacles on the shoreline rocks make walking easy. Less slipping. Look for starfish hiding in crevices. There is a small beach for swimming and benches available for sitting in the sun while you watch all the boats go by. Bring a lunch.
At the east end of the island, you will find this park off South road. There are plenty of spaces to park and picnic tables. We went for a swim, however it was a little tricky to walk on the sandstones to get to the water. The water is colder than what it was on the north end of the island. From where we were near the parking lot, we could hear the water rushing through the Gabriola Passage. It is a beautiful park.We also took the time to look at the sandstones carved by the sea, which by the way, I found it is different around the island.
Please visit and walk the shores of this incredible island. The forest in the park is like a virgin primordial piece of the past
My parents lived on Gabriola for several years, and Drumbeg was a must see every time I visited. It is so beautiful, with some great walking trails. The kids love scrambling over rocks (okay, so do I) and most folks there are pretty laid back. The park overlooks Gabriola passage, and is on the east end of the island. If memory serves my correctly, the land used to be owned by a Scottish man (named the area after Drumbeg, Scotland) who then left it to the BC government for preservation of it marine and wildlife ecosystems. Supposed to have great diving offshore.
Drumbeg Park has been and will always be one of Gabriola's most beautiful parks. Great swimming, great hiking trails, dog friendly! This is fast becomming a tourist favorite! Get there early as parking MAY get difficult. This is my second most favorite place...the first is...
This has variety, a beach for swimming, great view of Mt Garabaldi above the Strait of Georgia. Kids love the tidal pools teaming with wildlife of the sea. Watch the boats scoot through Gabriola Passage on a tidal current.
We live just around the corner to Drumbeg Park and I often include it on my runs...it has a wonderful trail system..spectacular lookouts...warm water and gorgeous! it is a great place to touch the best of nature...
Great park for swimming in the summer. Absolutely breathtaking views of Full moon rising over the water often accompanied by local drummers. Very good energy at this park.
While Gabriola is blessed with many beaches, many say Drumbeg is their favorite. It is in a sheltered bay and has some special mystery with the rock formations, views over to Whistler on the mainland and shady trails. It has a magical feeling. If you are lucky enough to be here on a full moon, you can participate in "Full Moon drumming".
When I first came to Gabriola we went to Drumbeg. Right away, I knew this was the place for me! I've been going back for 20 years and my love for Drumbeg has not diminished. That is where my ashes will be scattered for sure!
Loved everything- the rock formations, the beach, the view and feeling like we were alone most of the time.
One of the best spots to spend time on Gabriola! A real gem. Gorgeous sandstone shoreline and a fabulous vista of the surrounding area. Pet-friendly too. Highly recommended.
