My son was turning 2 and I wanted to do something special for him. We decided to take the kids to the ranch in Pitt Meadows for pony rides. The kids have never been on horses before and they loved it. Hanif took the kids around the ranch and was telling them stories about being a cowboy. He gave the older kids lessons on the horses and talk them safety around horses. I am really glad that we decided to do this. The kids had a blast.
I'm an outdoorsy person, but I live in New York City. So when I travel I try to get my fill of the outdoors as much as I can. Recently, I found myself in Vancouver for a week and wanted to get out and enjoy the beautiful mountains in the best way possible...on horseback! I did a little research and found Leghorn Ranch online. Since I was traveling alone, I contacted Hanif to see if he would be willing to take me on a ride by myself. It worked out perfectly because he happened to be free on the day I wanted to ride, and so we met up in the morning at the ranch. This is the first point I will touch on--that we met at the ranch. Some of the other trail ride services in the area will only meet you at the trail where you are going to ride. With that scenario, it is impossible to see the environment in which the horses are being kept. Being a horse person, I want to know I will be riding a well-cared for animal. When I drove into Leghorn Ranch that morning, it was very clear that all of the buildings are in great condition and that the horses have ample room to live. The two horses we were going to ride were already saddled and ready to go, and they both were healthy and good-looking horses. Not too skinny, and not too fat (as some trail horses tend to get). These horses are very well cared-for and looked-after by a man who clearly has a long-standing love and passion for these animals. After meeting Hanif (who is a great-humored, lovely person!), the horses went up in the trailer and we were on our way to the first trail we would be riding. Since I am an experienced rider, Hanif offered to take me on a slightly more difficult ride that turned out to be utterly amazing. We rode along the Alouette River through Golden Ears Park. The forest is one of the most breathtaking scenes I've seen. The trees are very tall and ferns cover the forest floor. We crossed the river twice, and stopped for lunch on a high bank overlooking the river. It was fantastic. When we wound our way back to the trailer, I was sorry for this ride to be over, but was excited to see where we would go next. Hanif loaded the horses up again and we drove away from the mountains to another location for our second ride. This ride was stunning in a different way, in that the land was much flatter and you could see the jagged peaks of Golden Ears and other mountains rising up in the distance. Breathtaking. This second ride was more mellow than the first, but equally as fantastic. Throughout the day I fell in love with my horse (named "V"), who was very well-trained, well-mannered, and sweet. I could not have asked for a better horseback experience in Vancouver. If I ever find myself in the area again, I will definitely be contacting Hanif for another ride! So, if you are trying to figure out how to spend your vacation time in Vancouver, I definitely recommend going horseback riding. And if you already know you want to go horseback riding, but can't decide which stable to go to, I strongly suggest going with Leghorn Ranch. The trails were beautiful, the horses were happy and healthy, and you will be in great hands with Hanif, who has a lifetime of experience in the business. Hope this helped! Have fun!
My fiance Tannis and I went horseback riding earlier this morning with you guys, and we had a ton of fun... the guide was incredibly friendly and informative, and made us feel like family... the horses we were riding were Zack and Akbar, they got along incredibly well and really loved to be around one another... we saw an Eagle nest, beautiful scenery, and rode through the refreshing waters of the river near the horse stables where we started our trek... for the money spent it is very high value and we strongly suggest horseback riding with them... thanks a lot for the awesome experience, you made my fiances birthday very memorable and fun!!! As a reminder do consider to bring carrots or apples for the horses, they love them tons, and will be very nice for you if you feed them treats and scratch behind their ears...
Just finished having our 4 year olds birthday with Hanif and Brandie from Leghorn Ranch. I have three kids and I can honestly say that this was the best party we've ever had. Hanif was great with all the kids (ages ranged from 4 to 11). While kids were riding the horses the other kids were painting horse shoes. Each kids ride on the pony was tailored for the child's age. I definitely felt that the kids were in safe hand and were actually getting to learn skills as they rode. This is our second experience with Leghorn ranch, last year we went on a two hour trail ride which was amazing!!! Thanks again Hanif.
My partner and I decided to do some horseback riding for a few hours during our trip to Vancouver. On February 26 2015, we reserved a 3 hour ride and from the moment we met Hanif, he had us laughing so hard. The trail was absolutely STUNNING and peaceful, all while being educated about the local farms, wildlife, and scenery. Being experienced riders, our horses were well picked, even after 4 horses were found to have a missing shoe. Hanif was quick to scheduled next-day fittings for them and didn't let us ride them, for fear of not only our safety, but also the comfort of the horses. You can tell he really values his livestock and they love him back. I rode on Skip, a 15-year old blonde hair horse with a mild temperament. My partner rode on Duke, a new race horse addition to the family, on only his 4th time doing the trail since Hanif received him. I was nervous at first, since it had been a while for me, but Hanif made me feel comfortable early on and the pre-trail lessons were invaluable. We went through a river and he took pictures of us. We went along a trail that wasn't normally used, but the views were top-of-the-line.As if the ride wasn't enough, we came back to the ranch just as our car service had arrived to take us back to Vancouver. Hanif graciously showed above-average hospitality when he invited not only my partner and I into his home for lunch, but also our driver, who also took pictures with us. The home cooked food was well shared between us and two people we had just met. There was great conversation, and we even had a surprise visit from his uncle, who was just as friendly as Hanif.Anyone who seeks a great time with a charismatic, knowledgeable, proven Canadian Champion should look no further that this ranch. Every horse we saw was in immaculate shape and docile. I could not have spent 3 hours at any other ranch the same way. Thanks so much Hanif from a couple of New Yorkers.Terrell & Mike
I wanted to do something special with my three daughters to ring in the new year on January 1, 2015 and Leghorn Ranch, owned by Hanif and Janet was the perfect activity. I booked everything last minute but nothing was too much trouble for this organisation. My daughters are beginners but were well taken care of by both Hanif and Janet. The 1.5 hour ride offered spectacular views, a small adventure through a creek and a safety was definitely their main concern! We loved their horses and will go back to do their camps next summer if we are in Vancouver. I highly recommend this outfit!
nice place to ride horses, free lessons for first timers.I have to say I wanted to be able to run faster, but they didn't allow it for safety reasons
I ride horses every day. I try to find a place to ride every time I travel for work. Let me tell you this place is the real deal. Hanif and Janet are horse people that truly love horses, and sharing that passion with others. Combine that with a funny quirky personality, with genuine warm welcoming environment, and you have Leghorn Ranch. Hanif went out of his way to help us find our way to the ranch from downtown Vancouver. It was easy and totally worth it. The view was beautiful, the horses were sweet and happy. Recommend to anyone who wants a fun day in the fresh air. Truly invigorating.
"I m so glad I chose Leghorn Ranch to ride with during my visit to Vancouver from the UK in October. I booked in last minute with no trouble whatsoever and was warmly welcomed by the owner Hanif and his wife. I hadn't ridden for a couple of years but they made sure I was safe at all times and gave me the perfect horse to ride 'V' - what a cracker. The ride itself through the Golden Ears was stunning and I felt like a proper cowgirl!! A truly wonderful and authentic experience. Thanks guys, cant wait to visit again".
We had our pre-wedding photos shooting done at Leghorn Ranch. The barn itself and the dance floor upstairs where the hay are kept look magnificent. It works really well on photos. The owner Hanif and his wife were very warm and welcoming. They are pretty experienced in photo-shooting and had done some extra work like picked out two horses that look the best together in pictures, brushed them beforehand, they also cleaned up one side of the barn and laid some fresh sands and hay for our photo shoot, all these were unexpected consideration and you can really feel they would do the best for you.We also got some photos done outdoor where there're river and meadow closed by. The scene is just amazing. Being at Leghorn Ranch is one of the highlights of our trip.
My two best friends and I went to Leghorn Ranch for my 20th birthday and we had a blast!!! The staff are so nice and are great with the horses. We had a great time on our ride. The first half of the ride was slow getting us used to our horses and the scenery. On this trip we got to see a black bear! It was so cool, I had never seen one in the wild before. On the second half of the ride we got to go further into the forest taking our horses on 70 degree hills and through a rushing river. It was so much fun; the thrill of your horse jumping up the hill out the river is a feeling I will never forget.THANK YOU SO MUCH LEGHORN RANCH!!!!YEEEEHAAAA ;)
We had a great time here. They were able to make accommodations for us last minute and took us on an easy but fun 2hr evening ride, along with lessons at first. We were brand new to riding and my gf was dead scared of horses but ended up loving it in the end. The owner Hanif was a very nice, funny, friendly, and helped us learn some basic riding skills very quickly. Would definitely return!
Me and my girlfriend went down to Leghorn for an amazing evening trail ride. since we've never rode a horse before, so we got a good introductory lesson on the horses. The horses are amazing, they have been very calm the whole ride. We got to see some gorgeous sunset scenery on our way back. Our guide Haniff is a very nice person too.
Took both my daughters for a 1.5hr trail ride. There was a quick test to see how we would all do and Hanif (Owner) did an excellent job in picking out a nice calm horse for my 10yr old, who on a previous ride in Crete had experienced a very jumpy horse, making her somewhat nervous to ride again. The trail was very scenic and we managed to bumped into an eagle. The short ride cross the river was also pretty cool.Overall an excellent place to visit and enjoy the scenery of Pit Meadows.Only bad thing I can say is that the Brits jokes were poor ;pHere's our YouTube video of our ride: http://youtu.be/TRUzyD6Kp2M
I would really like to thank the Lenghorn ranch and all the stuff there for quality, safe and fun experience. the horses are great, the trail rides are amazing. The introductory lesson was very fun:)
