We stopped on our way to Revelstoke. The centre was open and a very friendly gentleman answered our questions. He told us about his community with great pride, pointed out pamphlets and mentioned community events. Most particularly he mentioned a show and shine going on, gave us directions. We checked it out, had a great time. While this visitor centre lacks fancy displays, it more than makes up for it with friendly service. Stop by and check it out.
A group of 15 rented their 22 passenger houseboat from Aug 16-19. The first day we noticed a septic odor in the stateroom washroom. There was no solution to pour in the toilet so our captain radioed to the base on the second day. He was told to use Dawn to lubricate the toilet seal. This did not alleviate the problem. The odor was noticeable as soon as you went upstairs and became unbearable resulting in non use of the toilet. We were told the seal would be replaced when we checked out.The CO2 monitors were dated June 2013 which made us wonder if they worked at all. Their excuse was that our boat must have been missed when they were replaced in the spring. The trip was in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary and would have been a wonderful experience had it not been for the above mentioned issues.
Okay, it's a visitor centre--so it's pretty much what you'd expect--brochures, maps, and other info on the area and beyond.Helpful staff. The new location is easier to get to and away from the beach, so less traffic, and lots more parking. It's right by the library--which if you want to sit & read and relax, that can be handy.
