Plenty of choice here, a nice easy path to the falls for those who have some difficulty walking or a more strenuous hike for the fitter visitor. Great views all round and easy to find make this a must-see for visitors to Smithers.
Its and easy, short hike to an impressive water fall in a beautiful setting with great views back over the Bulkley Valley
This is a great stop for people wanting to get somewhere beautiful but just looking for an easy walk. The falls are gorgeous in the spring, summer and fall...never went up in the winter. Easy walk with kids too.
Twin Falls Can be either a quick walk up to the viewing platform form the parking lot or A fun hike up the trail to above the falls and to the glacierThere are old mining working to be found at the foot of the Glacier and great views
It is a very nice place to visit, great place to bring visitors. When you get to the viewing platform there is a sitting area, but the real gem is going up past the viewpoint and you end up closer to the falls and there is a trail up to the bottom of the falls for the more adventurous people.
The drive to twin falls is beautiful and gives you a coastal feel driving through the trees. The hike is about an hour round trip. There are some great photo ops and the hike leads right to the bottom pool of the main fall.
Trail is overgrown at the start, steep in places and only peek-a-boo views of the falls. This was disappointing. We climbed to the rock slide which took about 1.5 hours. It is above the tree line so there were good views of the valley from here. Lovely wild flowers along the way (this was in July). Although it says on the map “difficult, steep and rough terrain” it was not that bad.
We saw four mountain goats... it's a steep but not overly difficult hike... beautiful views, lots of parking, nice and clean. Went back twice!
I have done this visit since I was a little girl. Love it. It is home!Towering trees, moss on the rocks & tree trunks, and a rushing creek coming down from two creeks from the sides of the glacier. Amazing.
nice hike to take the kids on, get them past the rock and they can go right up to get the waterfall spray
Twin falls (like it says) cascade over the clif. It's only a relatively short walk from the car park, but the road in is mostly gravel and a little rough - and I am used to gravel roads. Well worth a visit and shouldn't take long.
Its a easy hike (I took my 3, 5 & 7 year old) a beautiful spot, took a picnic lunch and we ate at the picnic tables. Gorgeous views, lots of flora and fauna and a great place to explore, it only takes 20 minutes to go up but can easily spend the day with kids checking out the rocks and stream. Lots of beautiful spots for pictures!!
During a summer visit to Smithers friends took us to this small park about a third of the way upHudson Bay Mt. (12,000 ft.). The park is only about 20 min. from downtown Smithers but the last part of the road is gravel and AWD is helpful but not necessary. There is a small camping and picnic area at the end of the road but the main attraction here is to walk up the trail beside the small river to the viewing area for the twin glacier fed falls coming off the mountain. Good shoes and a walking stick would assist an older walker but the young or fit would be fine with runners or good sandals. the trail is well marked and only about 500m long but takes you to a special and unique location with a view not just of the falls but also of quite a rugged mountain.
Rewarding hike. Burn a good hour and take in the scenery. Cool waterfall and very very easy hike. Wonderful views and a great way to get in touch with nature
the hike is short and sweet. only took about 20 mins in each direction, so if you dont have lots of time, its a nice hike with a great close up view of the falls. to get access directly to falls, you need to scale a rock wall, which is a little dangerous when its wet out, so make sure you have a companion or two to help and wear good shoes with good grip
