Nice place to visit and learn about ecology and the local environment. Beautiful setting with trails to hike nearby and several waterfalls and areas to enjoy
Very interesting, if not a bit light on what to see, what there is, is very good. This is a must if viewing the suspension bridge and a welcome retreat in wet cold weather
We liked it. It's free, need just few minutes to visit and you can have some informations. Staff is very kind. Is good for kids.My personal advice for other reviewers: be short and avoid personal business ;-)
This is a great spot to learn of the Lynn Valley area and ecology. Great static displays, interactive ones and workshop sessions. Check out their website to see whats on at the Centre now.
This was a neat little center with displays about the various animals, birds, fish etc in the area. There are also dioramas showing how humans have changed their surroundings. Very educational but smaller than we thought it would be.
Lots of interesting information presented in a fun format. My 13&14year old really liked it. There's a few nice gifts and postcards to browse too.
Great interactive information centre. Spent about 1 hour before kids got bored. Do it as part of the suspension bridge/walk/paddling visit. Come earlyish as free parking does get filled up.
As a Lynn Valley local the Ecology Centre played an important role in my childhood. As daytime nanny is was a favourite spot to bring the kids. The mini movie theatre plays a great select of National Film Board movies and environment themed movies -we always liked to watch the original Lorax movie. This is also a nice spot for anyone interested in the biology, or ecology of a temperate rain forest. While taking an Intro to Environmental Biology class at nearby Capilano University I made room for a return visit because the centre is full of relevant information for students, or even environmental organizations.Great resource, definitely worth a stop in. Admittance is free, but a donation is suggested (I would also suggest it).
If you have school age children this is a must if you are in the Vancouver area. There not only are animals but also lots of ecology and environment study exhibits and many hands on exhibits for children. Admission is by donation and goes to improve and support the work they are doing in the surrounding environment.
Our hotel was downtown on Granville. We travelled by bus to take the ferry to North Vancouver. From there we also took a bus to get up to Lynn Canyon. Remember that you need exact change for the bus! We spent several hours in the park. My wife was proud that she successfully crossed the canyon suspension bridge - 3 times! We spent almost 2 hours photographing American Dippers (birds) gathering insects in Lynn Creek. The remainder of our time we hiked the trails. This was a very nice park and well worth visiting if you like hiking through a temperate rain forest ecology.
Nothing high tech about this ecology centre. Just sound basic exhibits with some interesting info about the local flora and fauna.
We ended up here because the price of Capilano was extortionate. There were not nearly so many people. A relaxing and pleasant hike with the bridge attraction an obvious asset. Also it was free and still enjoyable. The food was not anything special and not exactly cheap. Seems to be the going theme everywhere these days!
If you are a local or visitor and it's raining, this is a good place to spend an hour or more. Especially fun for little kids and possibly up to age of 12. Educational
If you're planning on going to the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, then take a few extra minutes and visit the Ecology Centre, it's only a few steps away. It's very informative about the area
Visiting the Ecology Centre at Lynn Canyon gave us all the information required when visiting Lynn Canyon. Displays are excellent, well worth spending time here.
