A lot of skating was required between runs and three are a lot of cat tracks. Back side of the mountain had some good runs, but again a lot of flat terrain. I think after a few days, you would want to move on. I was ready to after two full on days of skiing here. However, the village is cute and quirky with good food choices.

All the facilities are close together in the village. The ski area of the village is car free so very safe for children. Good ski in/ ski out, even the car parks! Great guiding the best we have experienced.

We are first timers to this resort, but we have snowboardered Whistler, and Big White in BC so this will be written from that perspective. We were blessed with sun and fresh snow during our 3 day stay, often simultaneously, but we will try remain objective. During a year when the West is struggling for snow, simply no issue here (base elevation is 5200ft) and in stark contrast to Whistler (we often downloaded to village, 2200ft, the prior week ) The layout is simple to learn, high speed 6, 4 chairs everywhere u need them. Similar overall to nearby Big White in terrain, but the Powder Gulch backside features legit steeps and blue cruisers that offered fresh corduroy at 2pm. Love never having to wait in lift line, sleeping in a bit, and still getting fresh tracks on a Sunday. You know about Whistler village, Silverstar is tiny, but serviceable, Big White is a bit larger but much closer to SS than massive Whistler. We hope to return to all three, but having SS on our Powder Alliance home hill (Timberline) pass makes it a guarantee return trip. Loved Isidores for lunch,dinner and enjoyed LongJohns and the 'Dean' which is how Aussies pronounce 'Den'. Cheers!

Stopped here as par of a Canadian biking road trip in September 2014. Of all the places we visited (Panorama, Kicking Horse, Sun Peaks, Whistler and Coast Gravity Park) I think Silver Star had the most hands down fun trails around. Nothing too lairy or absolute do or die, just point downhill and smile all day long.All the staff were super friendly all the time and the lift access back to the top faultless and barely even any queuing time even when busy.Saw plenty of bears though, but I guess they're more than used to bikers and they generally moved on quite quickly. I'm sure you locals are well used to it but coming from a country where the most dangerous animal is an agry badger, a hefty old brown bear sat in front of you can be a little unsettling so we had bear spray with us.

WOW is pretty much how I can sum up my feelings about Silver Star's snowshoeing, tubing, and skating. My boyfriend was not looking forward to it, we brought our dog on the snowshoeing trails, I knew I would have fun with just experiencing snowshoeing for the first time, but when my super picky and unenthusiastic boyfriend said he really enjoyed it that's when I KNEW it was awesome. Tubing was great too! Since we had recently also gone tubing at Big White that's what we can compare it to and it was honestly better! The speed and the feeling you get on the dips on the hills was amazing. We thought we would only ride down once or twice but we ended up going more. The ice skating was fun (hard to walk around in your skates in the snow and down the hill to get to the actual ice) and pretty cool. One area is sectioned off for people playing hockey, another section was kind of like a loop where you could go around in circles like at a community centre rink. I rented skates and the attendant was super nice and informative.My most favourite thing about all 3 things is that it wasn't too busy. It was a weekend too! I hate going places that are too crowded that it takes forever to rent stuff out or get on a lift/tow. We checked out the number of people going up the lifts/down the mountains boarding and skiing and it looked like a good, non-crowded amount so we will definitely be back to try boarding.

Our family enjoyed three days of skiing at Silver Star in the midst of the great West Coast snow drought. In spite of warm day time temperatures and no new snow in more than a week, the runs that were groomed were in pretty good condition. Anything off the groomed track was unpleasant, but after new snow, it seemed like there would be a massive amount of skiable terrain. One thing I liked about the area was the number of ski in/out properties available. But it didn't feel like you were skiing through a subdivision (like Deer Valley, for example). There are many activities included in your ticket (ice skating, intertubing, mini-snowmobiles for kids) and the nordic tracks looked great.

Great range of runs from beginner to expert, groomers, steeps and bumps all on offer. We had a warm spell in late January that saw the cover in poor condition across BC, but from what I could tell Silver Star's held up about the best. Fantastic ski school, highly recommended. Village is small but has everything you need. Dining options a little similar but some quality restaurants available (1609 recommended). Silver Star on-hill food options a bit pre-packaged, and the amount of groomed trails was sometimes lacking midweek, but that is about the only negatives I can think of to this wonderful and very reasonably priced ski resort. Would ski here again!

My husband & I first skied Silver Star Mountain in 1999, we immediately fell in love with the area, the mountains runs & the intimate village. In 2014 we returned with our children and had such a memorable visit we promised we'd return again. We did! We just returned from our families 3rd visit and loved every moment of it! This year we celebrated my 40th Birthday by taking the unique sleigh ride to Wild Horseman's Cabin. This experience is unique to Silver Star. Its run & operated by an amazing local husband and wife team. He cares for the horses and runs the sleigh rides while she works selflessly in the remote cabin prepping the home made meal for each guest. Our children 10 & 5 were so excited with anticipation of our 1st sleigh ride. We informally gathered in the village to select our seats, sitting where ever we felt comfortable. We enjoyed the 20+ minute ride out of town and up hill to a remote and private cabin. As we made the journey we enjoyed the beautiful sun set & complementary wool lap blankets. As we entered the wood heated cabin we were greeted & asked to make ourselves comfortable. Served warm apple cider and enjoyed chips & salsa till dinner was served. My husband enjoyed a 1/2 rack of "Kansas City" Ribs while myself and 2 kids savored every bite of the Baked BC Wild Salmon. The sides were buffet style, every bit home made and delicious! At meals end my husband complemented the staff "those were the best ribs I have ever eaten"! After about an 1 1/2 hours our dinner time had come to an end, it was dark, clear skies and time to load up and return to the village. This time more confident in the ride we chose a front seat with our driver and dedicated Horseman! We talked story about his horses, wife's cooking talents and Silver Star. I was thankful for this memorable experience & intimate way to celebrate my birthday. I appreciated the other guests who joined us singing me "Happy Birthday". It was magical. Earlier I noticed other guests had BYOB. It hadn't even crossed my mind to pack a bottle of wine or 6 pack. I was thrilled when another guest handed me a glass of red in honor of my Birthday! Never thought I would ever do this, but had an awesome time tubing, the staff where friendly and helpful and somehow managed to calm my nerves . So well done guys would go again for sure!!

We rented a ski-in, ski-out cottage in this quaint resort. The skiing was marred by warm weather and lack of snow making the back side too icy and the front side too slushy. It was particularly bad on the weekend when many locals from Vernon and Kelowna came up to ski, making it far too crowded for the snow conditions (although far too crowded in Silver Star is nothing compared to crowded in California resorts). Nevertheless, my son had several excellent lessons--the first one he said was the "best ever". There are lots of places to eat, it's not overly expensive. Overall, we had a great time and hope to go back again in a better snow year.

I love this resort for it's beautiful long well groomed downhill runs for all abilities, extensive cross country trails all of which are also well groomed. The resort is unpretentious and provides a very family friendly atmosphere. Even when skiing conditions are less than ideal the skiing is very satisfying.

Silver stat is a nice ski resort with small town centre. People are friendly and it feels personal, it's not as commercial as big white, the mountain is easier to navigate and there is less crowd. Unfortunately it has been unusally warm and the snow is not as dry as usual. Visibility is not ideal but not too bad near SIlverwood chair. Overall we would return.

My boyfriend and I spent an amazing afternoon at silver star today, our first visit. We knew we only had a few hours so we chose the beginners lift ticket which was amazing value at $35. This gave us access to the summit chair and the Milky Way blue run, plus the blacks under the chair lift and a few more blues that join the main St ski way back to the chairlift. We were really happy sticking to one lift as the line moved so quickly and it was the lift closest to the main village. When we finished skiing/boarding we had a late lunch at The Den Bar & Bistro which was great, I loved the burger!We didn't get to the mountain until 11:30am and all the main parking lots were full. We ended up in Lot E and skied down to the village via the silver queen chair to buy our tickets. Coming back we jumped on the resort shuttle which was quick and efficient (at 4pm). Silver star is also very dog friendly, lots of dogs walking round the village!

Recent trip with cross country ski club brought us to this beautifully charming resort. While most resorts cater to alpine skiers I was pleasantly surprised by the daily nordic tours available with their hosts. Trails were sufficiently challenging and numerous.The kitchenettes in our suites were well equipped with all the necessities we needed. Rooms were spacious and relatively comfortable. However, even with large flat panel TV's, broadcasts were mostly in horrible standard definition, painful to watch.Food was standard fare although I fell ill for a few days and had nothing but soup, which was very good, for three days. The downside of the resort was that U.S. dollars were not converted to Canadian money, thus if you paid dollar for dollar, you'd be overpaying. Unless you have Canadian money, use your 'no foreign transaction fee' credit card for the next best deal or use a regular credit card and pay the 3% fee. It beats paying an extra 24% of the bill when paying with U.S.dollars

Visited for 1 week in January. As it was 20 years since our last skiing holiday & only having skied in Australia previously, we were excited but unsure what to expect-Silver Star was everything you could want & more. This small, cute picture postcard winter wonderland is somewhere we will definitely return to. The snow was wonderful-soft, powder & plenty of it! They have the full selection of snow/winter based activities-downhill or Nordic skiing, snowboarding terrain park, snow shoeing, skating on the pond as well as snow tubing, ten pin bowling, fat biking, horse drawn sleigh rides & dinner tours, snowcat dinner tours. They hire all the equipment you could need. The people in the shops/snow hire, ski school, guest relations are all so friendly & accommodating. The lift queues-what queues? This is a great place for families as well-ski school, child minding available. The restaurants have varied options from café/fast food to fine dining-something for everyone.
