My wife and I attended on a Friday and it was great. The staff, from front door to the bar, to the ushers were welcoming. We started to giggle at the host, and then couldn't stop laughing at the cast, sometime with the cast!Next time we are going to try a later show, we heard they can be even better.
This was our very first trip to Vancouver, BC! What a beautiful place to vacation. We were looking for something to do in the evening following dinner and came across The Improv Centre on Granville Island where the 27th annual "Massacre" festival competition was just starting. This was the best and funniest improve, comedy show that we have ever been to. The comedians were absolutely wonderful to watch - quick on their feet, very funny one-liners. The first show was so great that we stayed for the second show and bought tickets for the next evening! I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Vancouver!
My wife and I have been a number of times and haven't been disappointed in the entertainment. Would love to see some changes to speed up the bar lineup at intermission and before the show. Takes too long to get a drink. Actors are very good at what they do, though.
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. It is great to hear that you were a fan of ours during the Back Alley days and here you are years later, still a wonderful supporter. Also great to hear that the kids love it, we strive to be a product that everyone can enjoy. We hope to see you back at The Improv Centre again soon!
I went this past weekend with my extended family. Seating was fantastic - we ordered tickets online in advance so our group of 10 could sit near each other at the front tables. There's a bar for drinks and some nibbling food available. $33 for a bucket of 6 Granville Island Beers or Coronas. Tickets are cheaper for students with a student card (including post-secondary students). This made it affordable for our family. The free parking can sometimes be difficult to find on Granville Island, so we used the covered pay parkades. We went to the 7:30pm showtime and the content was suitable for everyone in our family, a few sexy jokes, but nothing obscene. The company gave us (and all other guests) the option to upgrade the tickets to include the 11pm late show for only $6. Since it's improv, every show is different. Audience participation is encouraged, although not necessary for those that are shy.We had a lot of fun and many many laughs. This was a great family outing experience.
Having thought we would miss the VTSL's normal improv (not on Modays and Tuesdays), we were delight on this trip to be able to enjoy the great improv comedy during their Revue of the Year. The standard was excellent and, at the price, a real bargain. Use the No 50 Bus to get there and back to continue the economy theme!
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. We were delighted to read this review and so happy that your son and yourselves enjoyed the night out at our holiday show. We strive to be an affordable product that appeals to everyone and are thrilled that you agree. We hope to see you back with your son again soon!
I have been to VTSL five times now and have never been disappointed! Each show is unique and has brought me close to tears on several occasions! I saw a show on Saturday and I am still talking about it today! Such good entertainment and great for date nights!!! Check them out!
Last night was my third time at Sports Theatre, and each show is different and unique. The actors do change, and since the material is from the audience, it is hard to duplicate any experience. The theatre is located in the heart of Granville Isand and is perfect place to go after/before dinner since there are a handful of restaurants within walking distance. Personally, my favorite show was my first show before the "adults only" period. I find there is more creativity in the humour as the actors cannot fall back on simply blurting out profanity. Regardless, whatever your humour style, you will have a fun time.
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. We love to hear feedback from our regular customers and are so happy that you have made us one of your spots to bring guests from out of town. We truly appreciate the support of our neighbors. We hope to see you back at The Improv Centre again soon!
I went to Theatresports specifically to see the TripAdvisor impov. It did not dissapoint. We had a great time and it was good value for our entertainment dollar. I would definitely recommend going and participating at the Vancouver Theatresports.
This past Christmas we booked the lounge at the VTSL and brought in catering pre-show. We had the place for about 90 minutes which was enough time to enjoy a great mingling meal, a few drinks, and even start singing some Christmas Carols. We then went into the show--tickets reserved for the tables on the floor. It was a blast! The VTSL players are just so silly and fun, we all let loose and simply went with it. Since it ended before 9, those who wanted to could continue on with their fun and the rest of us headed off to other obligations or back to family during this busy season. Think about this for a Christmas party, you won't regret it!
I've been to a lot of improv shows across the country, but this one (TripImproviser) was by far the funniest. The performers were fantastic, and even the audience participation was managed in just the right way to make it funny as well. My parents and I all loved it. Highly recommended for any Vancouver visitor!
The show we saw was called "Trip Improviser." It's a hilarious live show that multiple generations can enjoy! Always take a millennial with you whenever you travel...our son found this attraction and we're so delighted he did. Spontaneous, clever, inventive and side-splittingly funny, the show relies on audience input for much of its success. Audience members are asked about where they're from and a troupe of exceptionally talented actors/comedians takes it from there with unique, unpredictable vignettes about some famous and not-so-famous locations. With this show as a barometer, I'm presuming that whatever entertainment this organization puts on will be a hit.Highly, highly recommend this experience, a can't-miss on Granville Island.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover that an adult ticket is just $15 and a senior (65 and older) is just $10, so for less than the price of a movie we were treated to a great night of laughs, jokes, and fun! And a big plus is that the theatre is on Granville Island so we went down early, walked around and explored the shopping, had a lovely dinner, then walked over to the theatre for a night of entertainment at a very reasonable price...You will really enjoy it!
