wonderful park, lots of paths, flowers, food kiosks, people to watch, dogs, geese. very well maintained and clean.
River Cafe is always a memorable place to dine. Beautifully prepared game and fish. The setting is casually elegant - great place for business or romantic dining.
Love it there! Nice to stroll along, great playground for kids and yet still close enough to downtown to get something nice to eat or a coffee.
People go on about their city's park(s), but Calgary has its own share of great city parks and Prince's Island is one of the best. It's 50 acres of green on an island in the middle of the Bow River, right next to downtown Calgary. It has space and facilities for open-air music and theatre performances. It has a fine restaurant. There are lots of trees. It has still water lagoons with ducks and geese. There are numerous bridges connecting the island to downtown and the area on the other side of the river (Sunnyside). Downtown workers love hanging out there to catch some rays and watch the joggers on their lunch-hour runs. The park will be even better once Eau Claire is re-developed and hopefully becomes a better version of its current self, mostly empty stalls. Then there should be a lot of eateries to choose from, although there are a few nearby already.
A true definition of an urban oasis: it is so nice to just lay out a blanket and relax on the grass.
Walked through the park after breakfast on a winters morning. Saw the men setting up the ice skating rink. Fed the birds and watched the ducks chill out in the freezing water. Beautiful in winter.
The flood in 2013 totally decimated the park. As of the time of this writing (2015) the park is still under repairs. Definitely will take another year or so for it to be reinstated to what it was before.Prince's Island Park was a nice place - lots of office workers would come out as it is right by downtown.Lots of activities were being hosted on this island before.Downside is there's not enough benches and not much shades from trees unless you venture to the north end of the island. No free parking making this a tough park to get to..
I was staying near by the park for almost 10 month and amazing experience. Best place to go for walk , jogging , even for playing also. Very nice river by the way and good place for small kids speacially in summer.
We decided to give the Prince's Island lagoon a skate. The ice over Christmas was rough but that is outdoor skating. Don't forget to get your kids skates sharpened before the next game yikes the outdoor ice is hard on edges. It get skating in the shadows of all the big downtown buildings. There are a number of benches to tie your skates on some of the steps down to the lagoon are pretty big but the have a nice rubber mat to protect your blades.
I love Shakespeare in the park every summer. The trees and landscape make for great engagement photos and you can always find a fun event for Canada Day with food trucks and yummy gelato places.
This is a beautiful park in the heart of the city with lovely walks, good restaurants and minutes from downtown.
Our hotel was near this park and we walked through it everyday.......ice skaters, beautiful lights, and lot's of snow.....lovely winter oasis......
