I live amongst the vinyards of the Languedoc, so it was with some trepidation that I visited Domaine Les Brome during the month of February. I needn't have worried!Lovely wines produced from a very interesting terroir. The Ice Wines were the reason for our viosist, but we also enjoyed tasting many of the large number of wines offered by the vinyard. Small quantities of high quality wine. 'Chapeau' to the vigneron.I wish that I could have brought more back to France to show my vigneron friends.
We toured a number of wineries over a three day long weekend in October, and this was our best experience. Staff was very friendly and ensured our wine tasting experience was a good experience. We particularly appreciated that they did not charge a tasting fee upon purchase of one bottle per taster... We ended up buying much more. They hhave a very nice selection which catered to our different tastes.
and you'll surely change your mind. I can especially recommend the St Pepin white, a delicious buttery smooth wine that's perfect for summer nights and the Dentente rose that was light and fresh without any of the sharpness that you can find in some rose wine. The girl presenting the wines was friendly and knowledgeable and it made for an enjoyable visit. Glad we ended up picking this place to visit :-)
The chardonnay at this winery is hard to beat, especially at about 20 CDN if you buy a case. And a case you will want to buy. All their wines are excellent, and they are using grapes developed for cold climates in Minnesota, including St Pepin (yummy white), St Croix (red), as well as syval blanc, and Vidal. Quebec has come a very long way since 1985, and the sines being produced here are truly excellent. As well, the view of Lac Brome is terrific, so plan a picnic here too.
My wife and I were cycling around Lac Brome, and planned a stop at the winery. The wines are very good, and the presenter did an excellent job, we felt. The grounds are also a highlight, and we were made welcome to enjoy our picnic lunch overlooking the vines with a great view of the lake and the lovely Eastern Townships. A really nice facility, not so commercial as many other larger wineries.
Beautiful vineyard, but unfortunately when we are stopped, there was a huge commercial party. So difficult to park and people everywhere. We have not had a chance to visit. I suggest to the owner of the vineyard to close when receiving large groups. It was uncomfortable to be mingling with the guests of the private party.
The tasting was very busy, but we enjoyed the server very much. You MUST choose your favourite wine from the tasting and enjoy a reasonably priced glass of wine on the front lawn. There is an excellent view of Lac Brome, and it is just a beautiful place to wile away the afternoon. We were there on bike and if you are travelling from north to south along the lake, you will enjoy a mostly downhill ride as you leave the vineyard.
Part of my husband's 60th birthday gift was a tour of a local vineyard in Lac Brome on a beautiful late October afternoon tasting 6 different wines. Our hosts were very knowledable of the winery and wine making process and we were delightfully surprised by the high quality of the wines. The view of the mountains toward the Canada/US border was stunning. A definite stop for some wine and don't forget the picnic hamper as there are tables and benches set up in the yard for a wonderful day trip meal.
I'm not a big wine fan, but I found the visit fascinating. The whole area is very well maintained and picturesque with a sea of vines covered with white netting. It's set against a beautiful backdrop as well. There's a selection of outdoor art and can walk through the rows of vines to look at it.We had a taste of a few wines and were very well received in their lovely serving area.I found the reviewer who complained of "discrimination" quite off base. It's quite normal that French be prevalent in Quebec and I could point to no end of websites in Ontario that are all in English. Anyhow, I heard English spoken and everyone was very warm.
