If you want a good laugh, some family time, fresh air and a fun activity, this is definitely one of those activities. It's makes you work out and enjoy nature while having a blast going up, down, walking on cans, sliding, zig line and having fun. Definitely worth trying it once (or twice...).Enjoy:)
If you love fall, there is no better way to enjoy it. It was a little brisk, no mosquitos or bugs and no humidity or dampness. An absolutely perfect day. We had a great day in the fall. Great value for money. If you have visitors from out of town, this is a great day in a maple forest. The staff is excellent and the equipment is easy to use and very safe. You might not enjoy this if you have an extreme fear of heights, or have physical limitations (bad shoulders or tendonitis, etc) I would encourage the management to include a warm up at the beginning before climbing and stretching afterwards. You definitely use muscles you do not always use much. This 40 something soccer mom will be feeling this climb tomorrow.
Went with our kids - 9 and 12. An easy drive from Montreal we headed here on our way (sort of) to Burlington. Very low key and not terribly commercial. Make sure you have a good GPS or directions since there are no '50 miles to Abraska' type signs along the way and it really feels like the middle of nowhere - we kept thinking 'this can't be right.....' A few things to know: Book ahead - best to have reservations - despite middle of nowhere people know about it - so you don't get shut out after driving a long distance. We've been to a few other places like this and Abraska uses a different clip system where you can end up unclipped and high up if you aren't paying attention. Always check you are clipped. If you are tall enough for the harder courses, do one easy/moderate first to get the hang of it and then head over to the hard courses. If you do them in progression and wait until the end for the hard courses you will be tired and they will be that much harder to get through. Gloves can be nice to protect your hands - but not necessary.
Every penny spent was worth. The time that you spent in the place is enough , safety, and very very funny
A beautiful day with my little sisters. The trails are very nice ! But they limit your time to 3 hours and admit so many people that you spend more then half of it waiting !!! They should limit the number of customers or remove the time limit even if they replace it with a restriction to do each trails only once.
My company was staying at Deerhurst Resort for a retreat the weekend of Sept. 13th, 2013. One of our favourite and most memorable activities was treetop trekking. The staff were so calm and conscientious walking the timid ones (especially me!) during the obstacles. They were extremely patient yet professional. We were very content with the whole experience!
Our family visited just yesterday (July 2nd) and we had an awesome time. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The layout of the "treks" was great. Each course was more challenging (and fun) than than the previous one. We have been on many others and I would have to rank this one as the best. Overall a great value and we would definitely go again.
We went to Arbraska in Rigaud with the school. The grade 4, 5 and 6 were there and the kids told me it was the best school trip ever !The monitors or guides are well trained and explain very well the security. The reservation system (phone or email) is ok and the organisation on site is just great.Different levels were available so kids could slowly work there way up if they felt like it (in difficulty levels).Would recommand this place for sure.
We've been twice, once in the fall with just our family of 4 (Mom, Dad and 2 boys - at the time ages 6 and 9). And we went back in mid-June for my son's 10th birthday. Both my boys loved the aerial course and zip lines. In the fall, they were both allowed to do all the zip lines. My older son asked to have his birthday here and we organized 4 adults and 6 boys for a Saturday. It wasn't too busy, but there were a few times when we got stuck behind a slower person or had to wait for someone ahead of us to get some help. Otherwise, we were climbing, moving or zipping along. You pay for 3 hours and in the fall the family wanted to stay longer -- and could have done more. The boys had food and cake to look forward to, so they were okay stopping after 3 hours. My only comment is that on our first trip, they let my kids go on all the zip lines, but on our second trip, they refused to let the boys go on the really long zip lines saying that there was a weight restriction. In the fall, the guy on the platform had told my husband to give our youngest a big push to ensure he's got enough speed to get to the other side, but this time they just refused to let the small kids on the big zip lines. Oh well, we didn't make a big deal out it, but it was disappointing. Specially since this was one of the reasons we went back to Arbraska for the birthday party. Overall, a good time both visits. Bring your own bug spray, food and water bottles. There's a nice water fountain in the back; if it's a hot day, you'll want water with you. The bathrooms are a bit rough. We brought lunch and cupcakes with us and used the picnic tables for our party. It was really enjoyable.
We've wanted to go to Arbraska for a while, but never managed to coordinate going as a group till last weekend. As we were advised to call in advance and make a reservation, we did, so assumed that everything would go fast when we got there. Unfortunately even though we arrived on time, we ended up having to wait over an hour to pay, get geared up, and then go through the initiation, which we found very inefficient.Since all but one person in our group of 4 had done extreme ziplining before, we could have skipped the initiation easily. When we finally got to the courses, the easy and intermediate ones were packed and we gave up on 3 of them due to the fact that slow people and children were blocking the way. When you're paying $40 for 3.5 hours, having to wait 30 minutes to just get on a course is quite frustrating.Eventually we just went for the extreme courses, and had a (challenging) blast. The staff are very helpful if you get stuck, and will answer any questions you have. If you go on a weekday when there aren't hundreds of kids, Arbraska should be awesome. Otherwise, it's not worth the price to just go on 2-3 courses because of the crowding. Tips: - The different courses aren't well identified, make sure to ask for directions, else you end up in the middle of the forest and have to backtrack. - Bring gloves with you. The dollar store ones that are fitted with a slightly rough palm are the best.- Wear sneakers. Don't wear open-toed shoes/sport sandals. You're going to be walking on metal wires. - Bug spray is your friend. So is sunscreen if you burn easily - the sun does filter through the trees.- Bring bottled water and a small pack to carry it with you. You'll be quite thirsty.
Our office team (12 colleagues) decided to take a Friday off and organize an outing at Arbraska in Rigaud (they have 3 locations in Quebec). Registration, a week ahead of time, was quick and efficient and all was reserved and paid via email, phone and credit card. When we got to the park, we were welcomed by our guide, Salsa, and given the do's and don't of being monkeys for a day :) Salsa was a great guide and kept us in high spirits throughout the adventure. Her great attitude made our experience that much better. Thanks Salsa!! Being the end of September, we had the park to ourselves, and were able to cover the beginner's and 2 intermediate courses easily, and finished with the long ziplines. Even though some of the "games" are as high as 30 feet, the safety lines and harness keeps you secure throughout, even those with fear of heights. Trekking through the treetops brought the "teenager" out from some senior engineers !! Atfter 3 and a half hours, we were a happy but tired crew. A great team experience with many laughs
Our day at Arbraska was really great. We were 11 persons, and the original price would have been $40, but we 11 we had a discount, so it ended up being only $31. We got geared up for the day, they provide the harness and helmet, but you need to bring your own gloves. Some of my friends bought gardening gloves at the dollar store and they said it was good enough. I had brought weights gloves for the gym and they were excellent. They first teach you how to arrange all your equipment and how to use them and you need to know this as there are no guides helping you telling where to put things while you're up there. The staff is nice especially I've named Alex who had to come up to rescue one person as she was exausted and couldn't complete the course. He helped her down using ropes you would use for rock climbing, and even stayed behind to help some if us on this extremely difficult course an wad very patient. My advice is if you have not done this before don't be too eager to do the expert courses, they are very difficult. Start with the easy ones and work your way to the intermediate. The only improvement that I see needed is the little canteen would need more options in food.Great day even if my body is acking all over today ;)
