My wife and I just returned from celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in the Quebec City area. The absolute highlight of the trip was an afternoon of dogsledding, a terrific dinner and then sleep over in a wonderful Yurt with a wood stove. The folks at Aventure Nord-Bec have a beautiful facility as well as excellent hospitality. They make you feel right at home. Driving your own dog sled is amazing. We have done lots of intersting things while travelling but this was a new one…. we would go back again for sure. Very well worth it!

We'll run organization. Dogs are well taken care of. After a concise lesson, you get to drive a sled pulled by five dogs. Exciting and great fun. Owners and employees are knowledgeable and courteous.

Wife and I along with another couple went here after a night in the Hotel de Glace. About 45 minute drive from Ice Hotel. After a brief introduction to steering and stopping you are paired up with your guide. The guide drives a sled in front of a small group. In our case, just the two couples each to one sled. You are then off with five to six dogs through the woods and up and down hills. You stop half way to switch drivers and riders. Really fun as I didn't think you would really get to drive for so long. The dogs are friendly and are great for photos. Afterwards they show you the kennel area. That too was interesting. The day we were there they had three, 18-day old pups! Then back to the main lodge for hot chocolate and cookies (other drink and food items are for sale). Very fun and unique experience.

Not knowing what to expect when we booked the Musher package we were thoroughly impressed with the whole experience. What a rush to man your own sled and travel over pristine trails through evergreens and hills. Beautiful scenery and a wonderful guide, Guillaue, who took wonderful care of our two young grandchildren in his sled, as we followed him through a winter wonderland. He would stop often to make sure all was well and was very patient with any issues we were having.....This was one of the very best experiences we have ever had. It was not the typical go for a ride, following along. You were actually driving the sled yourself and managing the dogs. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who is in the area. It's a not to be missed, memorable adventure that is well worth the price. All the staff were wonderful and helpful. Sign up!!!

Every year for the past 5yrs, I have been returning to Aventures Nord-Bec with a group for an amazing dog sledding experience. This company is a small family run business that works very hard and is extremely dedicated to their dogs! The owners are very nice and the guides are extremely knowledgeable. They work very hard, so don't forget to tip them:)! This will be an experience you'll never forget.

My 11 and 15 year old children and I spent a wonderful time sledding and petting the dogs. The best!

We booked the Musher package through the Hotel de Glace, for the morning after we stayed in the ice hotel. We had such a great time! Our guide gave us a quick lesson on how to drive the sled - really it just consists of breaking when you want to stop, go around a curve, or when you're nervous since the dogs are trained to follow the guide in front of your sled. My boyfriend drove first for 45 minutes while I sat in the sled, and we switched at the halfway point so that I drove for the last 45 minutes. The dogs are friendly and very cute. Hope I get to do this again someday!

We booked a package deal with the Hotel de Glace that included dogsledding - we assumed we (my husband and I) would be seated on a sled, while a professional dog driver(?) would helm the sled and we'd sit snugly under some blankets and enjoy the ride. Wow, what a surprise when we arrived and discovered that WE would be helming the sled! We were then super excited and had a blast! Both of us took turns at "driving" and the instructions we received were perfect, plus we had a professional leader helming the sled in front of us, making sure to stop every now and again to see that we were doing well. The dogs were great - full of energy and seemed to be happy at the chance to get out and run in the snow. The scenery was a winter wonderland. All in all, a great day!

Very well organised company. We took the 45 minutes ride and it was enough for a first timer. The ride is much more physical than I expected but a great fun. Dogs seem to be pretty happy and very well treated by owners and guides. I would go back if I ever visit Quebec again. My only negative comment is toward the price of the digital pictures they take from you, CND 70 for 4+ pictures seem exaggerated especially that you do not have the possibility to take your own pictures while riding.Thank you for the experience.

Nice little experience, as others have said. But know if you are the "driver" that this is a heck of a workout (and for uphills you are usually the "lead dog") so you must be reasonably fit (respect to the eskimos!). I learned a trick to cornering is not just to hop on one side as they say, but also to tap the brake and lift the nose of the sled just as the dog starts turning the direction you want to go. The tipovers/falls are usually in slow motion anyway so pretty tough to get hurt, other than your pride. They also offer rentals of snow pants, and at the end there is complimentary hot coffee and snacks etc. AND, FOR GODS SAKE, THESE PEOPLE WORK ON TIPS FOLKS SO OPEN YOUR WALLET. When we were there almost no one tipped these folks, from what we could see at least . . .

When another sledding company cancelled our reservations due to recent rains, we reached out to Aventures Nord-Bec via email the night before we left for Canada. We got a quick response and were able to book our 1PM spot on the drive up. It was an excellent experience and really well run. The guide (Martin) was very attentive, so don't be nervous. The dogs were great! Friendly, varied, and still had plenty of energy for a fun ride in the afternoon. The spot is only about 30 minutes from QC and a piece of cake to get to, especially if you get the GPS coordinates. They take pictures while you're riding which you can purchase. We did the Musher package and it was well worth it and plenty of time on the sled. My wife got a little cold toward the end, so I would just recommend those hand and feet warmers and you'll be completely fine. I would highly recommend and really enjoyed the ride!

We have always wanted to try it. We love dogs as well and what an experience. It was amazing being pulled along on a sled with five dogs. Such strong dogs I do not agree on going around the city in a horse and cart as it is not normal and not good for their hoofs but this, I could see the dogs love it as they are in their environment. Make sure you pick a nice day for it. The scenery was picturesque with all the snow in the background amongst the trees. A guide is in front to show the way. Two people on the sled. One to drive, break and turn.... One to sit. You can swap half way through. I wasn't keen to drive, so I sat. Make sure you are fit as it is quite a bit of a cardio workout. You can always stop to have a break when you are tired. Please feel for the dogs... If going up a bit of a hill, the person who is sitting down should get out of the sled and walk up the hill.... We went for the 90 min ride. We were shown where the dogs are kept. The owners are looking at selling the business. I sincerely hope someone will buy it as it is something everyone should try, an experience of a lifetime. It was amazing and we simply enjoyed the ride. You should try it too. A word of advice, if you plan on doing it, don't bother taking your camera whilst on the sled .... Get the disc or photos... You will need good boots, hat and gloves. I believe you can hire boots and overalls.

What a wonderful once in a lifetime experience this was! We had a blast. Feel the joy of dogsledding. They train you, get you on with the doggies and then you have your own personal guide who accompanies you to the side, so you get all the fun and control with help very nearby. The grounds are gorgeous, the dogs are amazing. You get professional photos and yummy hot chocolate afterwards in their cozy cabin. I would definitely do it again! You don't need to be in super shape or anything.. just love fun! You switch drivers half way through so you both get a turn driving. LOVED IT!

We were looking for a activity after staying at the ice hotel. We signed up for the 40 minute ride on a Saturday morning. When we arrived we were greeted by a big furry dog and smiling faces at the front desk. We arrived a little early so we had to wait for the others in our time slot. We were offered coffee and a cozy waiting area. We were taught how to ride and drive the sleds before departing. We had a wonderful guide (GP) who was so attentive to us during our ride. Any time we had any difficulties he would stop his sled and run over to us. To clarify the only real difficulties we had were when our lead dogs needed to slow down to relieve themselves - we probably weren't stern enough when commanding them to run again! After our ride we were given a tour of the dog kennel and shown the food the dogs are given and how they are cared for. We were very impressed with the level of detail and the passion for the animals. After the kennel tour we were welcomed back inside for homemade cookies and tea, hot chocolate, etc. We were also able to view (and purchase) the pictures that were taken while we were out on the trails. The pictures were such a great souvenir for us so we bought the disc. We had such a wonderful visit and would highly recommend this adventure to anyone visiting the area!
