Very natural surroundings. Not a lot of grooming. Glade skiing for all levels. Downfall was most of the lifts are older and slow. Very friendly people (and ski patrol as I discovered!)

We love skiing when snowing and even if not, really enjoy skiing amongst the trees and glades. Like most skiers nowadays we are equipped and dress warmly so the cold does not affect us.Sutton has a run that will match your expertise. The mountain also publishes on website daily conditions which I found accurate and not inflated.Just a fun mountain with some nice runs. Wife loves it, so that makes me happy.

Friendly staff, un crowded, beautiful surroundings ... What more could you ask? If you are into uncomplicated and affordable skiing with beautiful glade runs everywhere, this is the ski resort for you!

Recently spent a few days in Sutton, what a gem. Love the glades and the fact that you are not constrained by the runs as in other ski hills, rather you can dip into the glades or cross over to other runs. I had 1.5 days of powder runs for the most part to myself. Seeing that we went off peak times obviously led to multiple untouched snow finds. We stayed nearby in an Auberge (Inn) and were offered a day and half lift ticket for $36. What a deal when the lift ticket on site is $60 for one day alone! The hill is primarily black diamond runs to the left and intermediate/beginner on the right. I spent the better part of my first day on the left side and was the only person on many runs. Sutton would appeal to the hard core skier and to families as the hill has something for everyone. My only knock would be the slow 2 person lifts (a local told me they are 50+ yrs old), but these can be avoided due to the fact that you are able to cross so many runs at a time.

We did the trail to lake Mohawk, it was 10 k return and took almost 3 hours through some rough terrain and steep incline at the end. It was a beautiful and challenging trail, worth the effort...

Lovely place, very friendly people. Great for the outdoorsy, athlete type. Good restaurants and she in the heart of the village. Did not like the roads in the surrounding area.

actually wrong time of year for skiing but looks like a good place, we stumbled upon it by accident, we have friends who ski so possibly would recommend it.

You can go there for a good day hike. Easy trails to get to a small lake or harder if you want to get to the top. The view up there is worth it. Took me about 5 hours to do 15km (round trip). The indications to come back aren't that clear and I kinda got lost in the end and had to walk on the actual street to get back to the car... it can be a little confusing. But scenic trails worth the drive from Montreal.

Don't get me wrong, it's not too, too difficult. Our experience was unique in that during our three-day stay at nearby Aburge Agnes Horth it never stopped snowing. Incredible powder skiing, which made all the trees and steeps quite manageable, even for a snowboarder (me) and his mid-level expertise skier wife (who had never done any tree skiing). The trails are narrow, lots of glades, not much grooming, but still one of the best mountain experiences we've had this side of Tahoe. Why more people don't know about this place I'm not sure. But kind of glad. The mountain is broken up into two sides. The upper/left side actually has the only THREE-DIAMOND trails I've ever seen, and they're seriously steep. The right/lower side is almost all blue trails, but still very narrow and lots of glades. But don't let that make you stay away...it's not that difficult, it just makes you test your skills a little, especially if it's icy (which I hear is fairly common, but not while we where there). The people are super friendly. We felt very comfortable the entire time, and everyone wanted to help us out and hear our stories about the evil American health care system. Don't worry, you can avoid that easily...just ask about their politicians!Since Mont Sutton has such varied terrain they offer guides to take you on a tour of the mountain before you ski/ride. This is quite awesome, because looking at the trail map we weren't too interested in going all the way to the top to where the triple diamonds were. But we found out that is the place to be. Great chalet with circular fireplace in the center of the room, terrific views out toward Montreal, some Bailey's and coffee to calm your nerves before the trip down (which, while steep, wasn't too bad). All in all, Mont Sutton is a little-known gem, and an easy drive from Jay Peak if you've already driven that far. It's a unique change of pace if you ski/ride in Vermont a lot. Sutton Village is charming, with great candy and cheese shops, pubs, fine dining, and the laid-back French Canadian vibe made it a trip to remember. We have hyped it up to our friends, and we'll be definitely be going back.BTW, I would have rated Mont Sutton five stars, but there is no denying that it is a bit rustic and not really conveniently located to anything. But may no mistake, it is a memorable getaway!

Quaint village in the heart of the Eastern Townships- easy to visit other locations as well. Travelled to Cowansville for dinner but also ate in Sutton. B&B is very clean, serves a hearty breakfast and the owner is more than accommodating.

While Sutton has a lot of trails for beginners, this mountain is a gem for exper skiiers with many diamond and double diamond glade trails.Skied 3 times in the past 2 weeks and all I can say is WOW!Havenet skiied here in a long time but the hill is still as great as ever...and make sure you eat at the chalet on top by the open fireplace. Buy the chili in a bun...incredible.In my opinion, this is the best hill in Quebec.

My buddies and I recently visited Sutton during our recent ski trip to the Eastern Townships.Spring skiing at the end of March was fantastic with February-like conditions as they had been whacked with snow the day before we arrived. We were also treated to a blue bird day which made for enjoyable skiing. Being a week day, we had no lift lines. If you like glades, then Sutton is the place for you as they have glades at various levels across the mountain.

This is a great place to ski. There are lots of different types of hills for all levels of skiers. The mountain is spread out so you never feel crowded, even on a busy day. While I check out other ski resorts, I return here every year for at least a few days of skiing.

JamieA365

6 return trips over the years, never disappointed, during the week is ideal, no line ups at all last week...

It is just a great ski hill, with skiing for all abilities for all! With all the Jay Peak expansion and crowds, come rude skiers, all the more reason to cross the border for Sutton!
