I have no doubt that the Domaine Forget lives up to its reputation as an excellent music camp and to the numerous musical events it hosts during the summer months. However, our stay was February 2015 and was not a pleasant one. We rented a studio for 2 nights and left after one with no reimbursements. We were charged for a studio with a view of the majestic St-Lawrence, the only view was between the 2 buildings in front us. Our studio had 2 single beds, 1 futon, and 1 double mattress on the floor of the "mezzanine". The climb up to this mezzanine is by a ladder bolted to the wall, there are no rails on this level that would prevent a fall. Even the staff won't go up, when we arrived the double bed was not made and were told that we need to make the bed on the mezzanine and that the sheets were in the closet. Rooms do not have televisions, but do offer wifi (expect frequent disconnects). There is no dining during the winter months and there isn't much in the town. You need to either pick up some groceries in Baie St-Paul or La Malbaie and make use of the kitchenette, or travel back and forth to either of these towns for dining (they both have wonderful restaurants). You would be much better served at any of the regions bed and breakfasts.
The music was great and the food was good. A lot of variety. Good value for the price. We did not have reservations but we were able to get a table. We lucked out. Better to have a reservation. The venue is beautiful with an amazing view of the river.
A group of us showed up one hour before closing and we were welcomed. The meal was first class in taste and presentation.
We attended a concert of the Quebec City Symphony Orchestra and it was excellent. The grounds of the domain are really nice and I'm told there are walking trails as well.
The concert hall has been built very recently and it integrated the latest knowledge in acoustics. The results are stunning! Good sound, even in the far rows. The architecture is modern.
This was a transporting experience at a musical brunch with majestic views of the river, great food and a delightful experience. We were blown away with the magic of the total experience.
Loved the setting for an afternoon concert of Louis Lortie. What a treat in the middle of the Charlevoix!
Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the music, the table setting, the atmosphere, and we must say it was a beautiful sunday morning.
