Only visited for viewing and cocktails but this is a must see. The rooms were spectacular. Not sure I would want to spend the night but definitely worth the trip to see.
A hotel completely made of ice, beds, chairs,.....wow! We had a drink in the ice bar, slid down the slide (many times) and visited all the themed rooms. They'll have to rebuild it all next year with different themed rooms, so would definitely return!
What can I write about spending the night in an ice hotel, after sipping a Nordique beverage from an ice glass in the ice bar, and sitting in the hot tub at 11:00PM with fluffy snow falling all around us? Experience of a lifetime. Wonderful buffet breakfast with made to order omelettes, meats, crepes, potatoes, cereal, pastries and breads, juices, tea and coffee- as well as linen tablecloths and napkins. And no, we were not cold. We followed the instructions at our orientation and were cozy and warm in our mummy bags. If you have the chance, GO!
Would not stay, but was so glad we drive several hours to see this. Spectacular and truly a work of art. We visited all 40 plus rooms, many themed with very creative detail. It was unexpected that we would be able to see them all. I thought about staying, but after a couple of hours, I was ready to go warm up. Dress warm, but it is not to be missed.
The Hotel de Glacé was an amazing experience! The hotel itself is unique & beautiful, worthy of just a visit and tour at least, if you can't or don't want to stay overnight. We had a great time though, exploring the hotel, then in the spas and finally in our suite. We were both warm & toasty all night, slept great, surprisingly. Highly recommend!
This is an awesone, unique experience. We first visited in March 2014 and loved it so much that we returned in January 2015 with our kids. On both visits we only did the day tour. I'm not sure I could brave staying the night in the cold. Make sure to check out the ice bar and order a drink!
Unique, artistic, and creative - a must see! A hotel made from ice and snow. Each room has a different theme. We did not stay here, but we throughly enjoyed touring the hotel and grounds. Everyone was friendly. I would stay here given the chance.
We took the 'Behind the scenes" tour, which was a bit more than a regular visit, but included one drink at the bar (which made up for the difference). Our friendly and knowledgeable guide took us around the property and described the construction of the hotel, as well as answered our questions, and showed us how to make our own ice glasses. The amount of ice and snow is awesome, as is the structural integrity and strength of the structure. IT IS VERY COLD THERE. So you need to have warm boots, coat, gloves, hat, etc. And maybe grab a plastic bag, as carrying your ice glass does freeze your fingers after a while. There are adult bars and a non-alcoholic one. The only issue - the construction of the glasses has not been fully thought out. They are blocks, and the lip on the glass if flat and wide - thus very difficult to drink from unless you have a straw (and we did not). The construction of the bars and common areas is nice, with some decor and 2 awesome chandeliers, one made of milk (so - white in color). But not too much common space. The building itself looks like barracks from the outside, not really like a castle. Very narrow, long corridors lead to 44 rooms. There are "named" or theme rooms which are well-decorated with lights and carvings. And there are plain rooms, which look like prison cells or cave rooms a bit. No frills. At the time we were there, there were many visitors, but I did not see any people that were staying there. There are blocks of ice everywhere, so VERY cold. Some of the fancy rooms have small fireplaces. There is no running water, no toilets in the hotel, so you have to go outside and to the neighboring cafe - building to wash up, etc. It was very interesting to see, but I would probably not want to stay there. Also, in the years it has been functioning, there are some glitches that might have been worked out better (like the glasses). I was expecting a fancier facade, and more ice decorations as well as colored lighting for interest. There is an attached chapel, which is nicely designed, and a wedding was taking place when we were there. (It is a destination wedding location for couples from the warm climates!!) There is a visitor's center with a shop, toilets, and one with a cafe as well. But NO FACILITIES in the actual hotel building. In general, it is worth a visit, if you are there.
Sensational site! Loved the cravings and the details inside the hotel. Very beautiful! "Talked" on ice phone in phone booth, had a cocktail in an ice glass and '"kissed" the Great Gatsby!
It is well worth it to check out this attraction. A little over-priced, considering you also have to add another $5 if you want to snowshoe or toboggan, but considering how much time and money goes into creating this it is worth it. The rooms are small but really, they're just meant for sleeping. Beautiful architecture throughout. And every year there is a new theme so that the building is different ever year. Definitely recommend!
Visited this attraction during my stay at the Four Points which is located nearby. It is definitely a piece of impressive snow and ice art. The feed to enter the Hotel is acceptable;during my visit several bus tours were there as well; guided tours are available both in English and French. The temperature inside the hotel complex is indeed very low - so dress warm with hat and gloves. Liked the Heineken experience and also the glide and the fireplace and the jacuzzi areas. Many hotel rooms do have different themes and they are all very impressive (but also very cold).
The hotel is amazing. People can wander around, take photos, and sit on the beds and chairs that are carved out of blocks of ice. Murals and sculptures in some bedrooms are created around themes. There was a big slide made of ice in the lobby. It was colder inside the hotel than outside, so dress warmly.
The place is grand and beautiful! Everything is ice or snow so you have to dress appropriately. I like how there was an ice bar where the drink menu was extensive. I got the hot chocolate which I held on for quite long as it helped keep my hands warm. There's also nice fireplace but it didn't give any warmth because if it did, I guess it would melt down the whole place! There was fascinating snow carvings too. I had a memorable experience and highly recommend seeing this place if you're in Quebec City but prepare 18 Canadian dollars per adult for entrance fee!
What fun! My family and I did not stay At the hotel we were there for the tour. It was so amazing to us. It was like an ice town, at first I thought we were in the wrong place, b/c there is a main building that was not shown in the pics. However, I guess we were not the only ones b/c the address was displayed to assure you that was the correct place, and yes, there were flags with the name of the location. The hotel lobby played wonderful disco music and very nice seating area. The ice slide was wonderful,it really brought out the child in me. This was a really, cool and unique experience. The rooms all have different themes, our favorite was the Egyptian inspired room. We ran into some people who were not dressed properly... A lightweight jacket and sneakers. Please dress the part, the ice is not melting, there is no heat! We wore ski coats w/ ski pants, warm boots, hats, scarf and mittens/gloves. Oh yes,the hotel has free Wi-Fi.
We didn't stay the night but visited during the day. It was the Highlight of our trip, as rated by the kids. About a 15-20 minute drive from old Quebec.
