We have visited a few vineyards in the Blenheim area but Yearlands blew us away. The undulating countryside gave good views of the vineyards and you could see how far they stretched. It was only then that I realised how much land was under vine cultivation. The drive to the Cellar Door was changing at every turn. The processing plant fitted into the landscape and the Cellar door was part of this. We firstly watched the film about the vineyard and they are truly eco friendly. The film was most informative.Afterwards the staff offered us a tasting and very very patient as we asked a lot of questions. The wine was very much to our taste and we can buy the one we liked in M&S.We then took the self drive around the vine yard, for me the most magical part. Do do this it's well worth it. We stopped at the outlook on the coast and took loads of photos and further along at the wetland ponds. This was by far the best vineyard and well worth the drive from Blenheim, it's a little gem away from the main Marlborough are.

I visit a few wineries around New Zealand and I have to admit I was blown away by Yealands. There is no restaurant but the culture and wine is unique. And the vast vinyard is something you should see, and then drive around on a private road offering spectacular views of the coast. Please visit!

We had been drinking a Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc for a couple of nights so thought we should pop in and see the vineyards on our way from Blenheim to Kaikoura. The Seaview Estate is a couple of miles off the main highway in Seddon and is well worth the detour. As you approach the main building down a beautiful straight avenue you have great views of the vineyards themselves planted out in incredibly straight rows as well as lakes and mountains. At the cellar door we had a lovely warm welcome and were conducted to a small screening room where we watched a short DVD on Yealands. The owner is quite amazing and it was so good to see all the eco friendly measures he is putting in place including establishing wetlands to attract birds and massive use of recycling materials. After the film we went for the wine tasting. This was entirely complimentary and comprised four wines, including the top of the range single block Sauvignon Blanc, and a tawny port. The wines were of course delicious. Again the people were lovely and friendly and obviously knowledgeable. Then after the tasting we were given a map and allowed to self drive round the estate following the white road. Apart from the stunning views over the ocean and across to the mountains, look out for the "chookies" literally everywhere, stop and listen to the classical music playing at the lookout and picnic areas, and if you're lucky you might see little furry pigs or baby doll sheep grazing on the grass between the vines. This place is an exemplar of modern wine production in harmony with the environment. Stunning!

We went here for a wine tasting and a tour of the vineyard which was interesting. They are attempting to be self-sustaining by using solar power, making their own mulch, and recycling old vines, etc. to be used in making hot water for the vineyard. They were friendly, informative and enjoyed the time we spent there. An added bonus was the great view you got from the vineyard.

I have been looking forward to visiting for sometime but it was so hard finding the turn off coming from the south. A big sign on the main road would have helped. So worth the visit. This place is a real credit to the New Zealand wine industry. The short movie was informative and the sampling was nice. Try the port! So huge and well cared for. The whole carbon neutral story is exciting. Love the little sheep used instead of tractors (they took a bit of finding too) and the chickens (they found us) music. A must see on the east coast

We tried about half a dozen wineries in Marlborough...and this was my favorite stop. Complimentary tasting (always appreciated), really cool short video about the winery, gorgeous vineyards and driving loop, and a classy tasting room. Highly recommend.

Lovely place, with a great seaside drive and view that's free for any traveller. They also have a good cellar door experience, very good Sauvignon Blanc with subtle flavors. Highly recommended for visitors, those who like white wines or are interested in their carbon neutral and sustainable practices.

We were taken here by locals and were bowled over by the scale if this place and the attention to making this vast operation as Eco friendly as possible. "Think boldly, tread lightly & do not say that anything is impossible"Great wines, great ethos, unbelievable scale & vision. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the chooks on the self guided tour. A must see and well worth the short drive out if Blenheim. Fabulous coast & mountain views.

A short (35 minute) drive from Blenheim to view the biggest vineyard we have ever seen - it is huge! The whole emphasis is for enjoyment and appreciation of wines tasted, the view at the top, the music, chooks, pigs, horses and wildfowl. It is immaculate. We left laden with fantastic wine. Well done Peter and team.

Took the drive out to Yealands Winery and are very glad we did. The tasting, video and tour around the property was fantastic. They have really thought about their customer experience right down to the music at the lookout point while we had our picnic overlooking the sea. Beautifully kept vineyard and great staff.

On a campervan holiday we happened to be driving through and saw the Yealands sign. Took a chance and a slight detour and it was very much worth it. There is a short movie of the history of the vineyard ( less than 10 mins ) that kinda even kept a 5 year old entertained. We got to try 4 wines, and ended up buying two. A nice cellar door experience. Even better was the map and the instruction that we could take ourselves for a tour around the vineyard at our leisure. This was beautiful, and nicely framed with a shear cliff and some classically entertained vines ( Peter has loudspeakers out by the vines playing classical music ). It was a great experience far and above what you would expect from a cellar door.

The Yealands estate is a truly beautiful place and has some great wine! I had already had some of their Single Block (SB1) Sauvignon from M & S (£12.99) in England so I knew what sort of standard to expect. The actual estate looks beautiful - very impressive. My only slight criticism would be the amount of wine provided for the tasting - in our case it was on the very skimpy side. Hence the 4 stars rather than 5. There is no desire to get drunk here, just a teeny weeny bit more in the glass please? :o) Other Cellar Doors like Giessens, Villa Maria and Brancott were much more generous. The intro video of Peter Yealand was informative and worthwhile.

This was an amazing find. Knowledgeable staff talked us through the tasting. Take the self drive tour through the winery. Stop at the lookout - listen to the music (not sure whether it was for our benefit or the vines) and take in the stunning vistas. Lunch at one of the picnic tables. And most of all take home some of the beautiful wines. A must do. Or is that a must drink? And if you're in the Hawkes Bay go to Crossroads winery as they too are owned by Yealands.
