Rock Ferry was recommended to us by the staff at Saint Clair Estate. It is a small winery with a cafe. The wines were excellent and the staff were very knowledgeable. It's great to see people who are passionate about their work. We had a tasting and liked the place so much we returned in the afternoon for a cheese plate.
Really enjoyed our visit to Rock Ferry Wineries. Our tour guide Chris from Na Clachan Wine Tours took us here for a tasting and lunch. We are so glad he did. The wine was great and food was even batter!Read more about our experience here: http://www.peanutsorpretzels.com/experience-new-zealand-wine-private-wine-tour-marlborough-new-zealand/
Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting on offer. Highly recommend the Pinot Blanc and the Chardonnay on offer. So lovely
This was my first time visiting Rock Ferry and I was really impressed with the high quality service and delicious food and wines. The restaurant and gardens are really pretty and create a very relaxed atmosphere.I would highly recommend a visit here.
We've been to Blenheim a bit over the last four years but this was our first visit to the Rock Ferry winery and cellar door. It was definitely worth the time and we'll go back in the future. The gentleman running the tastings was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and eager to talk about the wines at length. We didn't feel rushed which is always nice.Doing comparative tastings between their Marlborough and Otago wines was fun, they have a wide range and should have something for most palettes. We didn't stay for lunch, but their restaurant looks good and with the friendly staff would make for a good tasting/lunch joint visit.Aaron & Laura.
We were the first to arrive on that day and while we were a bit early, we were greeted with open arms. We did a sampling of wine and at the recommendation of the waitress settled on a cheese tray and a late harvest Riesling for lunch - YUMMMMMMMM!The winery and restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed walking the grounds looking at the garden and different types of trees/flowers on the property. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thanks for an AWESOME time!.
Lovely relaxing lunch in a beautiful homely setting. Food was outstanding, staff quietly attentive and pinot gris most enjoyable.
A perfectly enjoyable and good cellar door, but not as good as some of the others. We also can't get the wine in the uk at all, which was disappointing. They did have a good range to try, and perfectly friendly, so 3 stars is probably a bit harsh, but it didn't quite make it to 4!
My gosh, had tried a couple of times to have lunch here, booked in advance. And I must say it is one of the best lunches I have ever had. Beautiful food and our table was outside with partial shade absolutely wonderful. Great service and excellent food. Definately going back
Myself and my wife to be took some advice to visit the vineyard. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a major mistake. We where served by, we believe, one of the owners and were subject to a very rude individual. On asking questions regarding the vineyard, I received a response that showed the establishments true colours. I asked a simple question: what is the vineyards "famous" wine/grape. The response was that the area was obviously know for...I will advise anyone that knows anything about wine to avoid as you will be instantly disliked (my wife's words) and spoken down too. The owner took an obvious dislike to myself and made it know. Extremely unprofessional. Avoid.
Second time I have visited Rock Ferry.....believe me it is easy if you book if you want to dine then you wont be disappointed if they are busy (and they usually are). Very good cellar door experience and this followed through to the meal outside on the deck. Great thing is the wines available at the cellar door are exactly the same price to diners...thats great to see. Very leisurely lunch with no pressure to hurry. The meal portions were generous and the outside dining area is fantastic.Well Done Rock Ferry !!!!!
We stopped here for a tasting after a morning in the Omaka Aviation Center and had to stay for lunch. Everything smelled so good we ended up sitting at a table basically in the tasting room, not even in the dining area (which was booked solid - so if you have the foresight it may be worth making a reservation) to eat there. I ordered a fish I'd never heard of and it was delicious. The fish was cooked perfect and the vegetable sides and sauces paired very well. Everything tasted very fresh. The wine should not be overshadowed by the great food. We really enjoyed our tasting and the host was very knowledgeable. The first bottle of wine from New Zealand we opened when we got home was from Rock Ferry.
Open from late morning until 4.30pm so ideal for early or late lunch - really nice garden setting as well as lovely atmosphere inside. Welcoming staff, great little menu with gluten free options - I had the courgette, corn and spinach fritters - fresh, tasty and very moreish.Really nice 'out of town' option - a little haven!
Pleasant staff and a tasty meal that was good value for money made this a definite "must go back there' luncheon experience. Also set in lovely grounds with a beautiful garden.
this was our second time over a couple of trips - this time we sat under the trees for a leisurely adult family lunch - service was smiling, friendly and very helpful; food was fabulous yet again and so too were the wines we tried. they were happy to accommodate our move inside for coffee when the wind picked up and the sun disappeared.
