gillespies beach

我们花了30分钟才开车到达这片海滩,而且沿途道路非常脏,还翻山越岭,穿过了一座小山。这里有停车场和洗手间,但是我发现专程跋涉过来实在是不值。海滩倒是比较怡人,但是完全没有任何特色,特别是这样的海滩到处都是,我建议大家还是放弃吧。

我们选这个地方就是为了寻找一个推荐的观日落的好地方。这里确实是个好的观景点,还有海景和冰川,山峦。你不必为了去海滩而穿过一些非官方的露营区,不过一旦到了海滩会发现这里很偏远。推荐此地,这里的风景很棒。

结束冰川健行之后，已经正午，于是我们在Franz Josef先解决了午饭，然后跟着GPS前往Gillespies Beach，体验一把深度游。这里有很多漂流木和海豹栖息地，从FOX小镇的Cook flat Rd一路开，到达Gillespies Beach Rd时右转，然后一直沿着这条路往里开，会经过到一段很长的碎石子路，两边都是树林，距离有点远，路很小，有些地方会车的时候需要互相避让一下才能过。离开Franz Josef的一路上还能看到壮观的冰山成片的山，成片的树，成片的草地，成片的牛羊石子，浪花，海水，蓝天，白云，连成一片有几条步道，我们选择了比较近的，所以就没有看到海豹了，但是这里的白色石头摆成各种图形，很有特色，我们也来一个路边的野花你不要采，不采白不采。。。哈哈

这个海滩是经过长时间的开车,穿过一个狭窄,丘陵起伏,砾石路才到的。它看起来像我们在新西兰去过的海滩一样,那些,我们可没费这么大劲到达。沙蝇也让我们很困扰。有一条小径,有大块的掘金热时期留下的机器残片,有揭示这段历史的标记,这很有趣又不同。那里只有很少的人,这是个远离冰川拥挤的一次放松--但是要确定在你的车里藏和锁好了你的东西,因为隔离可能会很容易让有些人闯进你的车里。

要想通往这个海滩首先得沿着一条长长的蜿蜒小路才能到达,不过也值了。我们看见了水里的海豚,也很享受沿着沙滩散步。海滩很隔绝,但是更增添了魅力。

Quite a long drive in to the beach from the road which was a bit cramped when a bus and campervan came past. Went to see the old gold sluice not sure what I was expecting but it is basically a rusted out heap at the bottom of a sandhill, to be fair there were information boards with the history off the place on them which were quite interesting and there is also a small cemetery where some of the miners and families are buried. Worth the trip if you are interested in the history of New Zealand.

Gillespies Beach is a hidden gem near the village of Fox Glacier. The rounded stone beach itself is most impressive, and the relics of bygone gold mining actiivity are most interesting. There are a number of walks in the vicinity. Access is challenging via a long narrow gravel road. But it is worth a visit if you are at Fox Glacier.

this is a must for beach lovers. The sea is an amazing turquoise blue and and grey sand rough and tingly on your feet. Lovely spot.

The campground here features nice, grassy, abundant tent spaces. The campground is only a short 5 minute walk to the beach.The beach itself was made up of large, smooth, rounded stones and stretched quite a ways down the coast. A great place to hang out and enjoy - if you don't mind the sandflies!

If you are looking for another place to visit & have a couple of days in Franz or Fox pop down to Gillespies Beach for a wonder. Best on a nicer day ,but pretty wild coast line anytime. Fantastic views back to Alps ,old gold mining relics & seal colony.

We had heard good things about this beach so headed off with high expectations.BUT found ...A rocky beach at the end of a dusty gravel road.Corrugations needed grading !

This beach is a little hard to get to - about 30 minute drive down a small, winding dirt road but is a pretty beach! The beach is mostly different colored rocks, very little sand. We just went to see the beach, but it seemed to be a very popular camping spot. If you're in a camper, I think this is the best place to stay when in the Fox Glacier area. Be sure to bring bug spray! Lots of sand flies around. There were also several trails around the area, though we did not use them. Nice stop and a unique piece of New Zealand!

Spent a night camping here after visiting Fox Glacier. Nice camp site with plenty of tent spaces - a shame some of the tourists in campervans can't park! Beautiful scenery, nice looking up at the snowy mountains and glacier whilst watching the sun set on a beach. Truly remarkable. Walk down to the lagoon was nice for a picnic, only shame was that the path to the seal colony was blocked by a slip.

This was a nice West Coast beach new Fox Glacier. Plenty of sandflies but we managed to have a picnic under the shelter. Long drop toilets were reasonable.

A gorgeous spot. Easily accessible with vehicle, untouched and a very relaxing spot to sit and contemplate life.
