It reminded me of every university district I have been to or a replica of a Red Light District. Eclectic shops, rastafarian vibe and cool art. Even though they have a few different locations, my favorite was the Iko Iko store full of fun cards and knick knacks.

The area is interesting to wander along with lots of small shops and bars, but is obviously in need of a bit of TLC - this us tricky to do without smart ending it up too much and thereby losing the 'local' appeal.

Loads of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Great vibe with all ages enjoying the area. Night markets are a waste of time. But otherwise not a bad place to visit in what is really a pretty sleepy country town.

I liked this area as there were quite a few ethnic type shops there also some more expensive, nice atmosphere.

Great street with a bunch of food and bars. Go during Rugby 7 and you'll feel like it's Halloween. Lots of fun!

Interesting but somewhat bemused by NZ shop canopies which obliterate the attractive buildings . Hence hardly as impressive old buildings as the New Zealanders suggest! NZ people are friendly, but they need to reflect on whether there architectural highlights are in fact being well presented. Regarding overall scene - area was fine

I loved exploring this area and specially taking the time to look at the amazing buildings and architecture of a bygone era. Sadly when you look up at these buildings you see that some of them are in a dilapidated state and in urgent need of a makeover (graffiti, falling apart) This area was buzzing when I was there (a sunny Saturday afternoon) all the cafes, bars, coffee shops with their outdoor seating areas were full. The shops are alternative and worth poking your nose into. The Left bank is a quaint little arcade off Cuba Street but was sadly lacking in atmosphere and it could be so much more. I had a lovely lunch at a quaint, unpretentious little Mexican cafe called Viva Mexico which is tucked away at the back of The Left Bank which made you think of an authentic Mexican cantinas.

I found this great little shopcalled Tangent & Co. Cool jewellery & leather goods mixed with retrollectables and awesome grunge inspired clothing. Next door to Olive ; a chilled out cafe with amazing outdoor area... worth seeing just to check that out, great for early evening treats xxx

We liked the pedestrianized shopping district with hip stores. There was a lot of activity, and it was just fun to wander.

Cuba street hums with energy during the night and day. There is shopping, cafes and restaurants as well as shops of all kinds. Each time you stroll down the street you will discover something different.

Unique mix of restaurants and shops cater to all tastes. Great if you've got a day to wander up and down to appreciate the art. A stop at Fidel's for coffee is a must!

Lots of eateries, food from all over the world. Shops to suit all, with lots of bargains, and side-streets to browse. People from all walks of life, and students make it even livelier!
