Great easy stroll or run if you are that way inclined. Fresh air and nice scenery. Enjoyed it and would definately do it again.
The estuary walk is really lovely. The trails are well-maintained and is a great place to walk your dog on the leash. Good pram access and wheelchair access for those less abled. Wear sunscreen and a hat as there is no shade.
Lovely peaceful walk loop and you can make it short or long as you like, interesting bits and pieces of information. Didnt like the unscooped dog poop on the grass on the way back to the car.
Easy walk with lots of bird life to be seen and hardly any people. Walk is well marked and goes over and by the side of the water.
What a lovey walk so close to the city. Beautiful scenic walk, can bird watch and read the plaques scattered on the walkway. can also swim , canoe, windsurf and paddle board in the pond, take a picnic and spend the day there, play ground for the children.
This is so good particularly for families as it keeps the littlies away from the road, but they can ride their bikes safely.
Stunning at sunset. Really love the effort put into this space and how beautiful it is. There is information about how to help this space ecologically which we enjoyed learning about too.
wear a hat and sunblock and water bottle. and take your togs for a swim at the end of the walk to cool you down.
We went on the 3.4km walk, experienced bush and trees on the perimeter of the estuary with a good number of inland birds, over the railway bridge for long views and then onto the estuary proper for close up views of sea/water birds, crabs and fish. Really pleasant time. Take water and wear a hat - it was pretty warm when we went round. High tide would give different sights but low tide worked for us.
We walk around the pond twice a week and always see lots of bird life and it so peaceful with everyone saying hello when they are coming the other way. Its a must do when in Napier take in the beauty and peace.
It made me so relax and refresh when I visited there!! And there are lots very good cafés and shops!! I really like to visit there!!
This is a favoured place for an afternoon walk or as part of a run. Off the road, good surface, keep an eye out for birdlife; spoonbills, gannets, shags, oyster catchers, seagulls, herons, plus random geese
This little gem, is an easy stroll for anyone. The kids will love it as it is only about a 45 minute walk. Along the way you can view seabirds in their natural habitat. It is quite a tidal area so shellfish can be seen when the tide is out. Informative signs have been strategically placed to help you identify various things of interest and in the summer months you can hire kayaks, go for a swim or just have a picnic on the water's edge. Another 10 minutes walk away leads you to pubs and cafes and views over the harbour. Altogether an easy and pleasant outing for anyone.
Lovely to walk along the boardwalk for a 'cold one' and warm fire. More than one to choose from (we tried them all!) and all had their good points but my favourite feel was from 'The Thirsty Whale' on a very wet day. Great also to watch the fishing boats come and go.
If you have an hour to kill, then this walk is ideal. It follows around the shore of the estuary and information boards along the way provide interesting snippets of information. The grade is flat so it is an easy walk for all the family.
