The view from Anzac Hill is a must for first time visitors and others alike - it is the perfect way to get a sense of Alice and the colours at different times of the day mean multiple visits are well worth it.
Anzac Hill is a small hill with a war memorial on top, to the North of the city centre. It is best climbed via a footpath opposite the petrol station although if you are lazy you can drive to a carpark round the back. It has some nice views of Alice and is a good place to watch the sun set (take a torch for getting back down).
It's a fairly short walk to the lookout which is well worth the visit. Great views of the whole town and surroundings. The tribute at the top is also good. A "must do" even if you worried about the 5-10min walk up, there are still good views on the walk up, do it!
If you have time, go up there and get a nice overview of Alice Springs (and a feel of how small it is ;)). And hills which are surrounding the city.
A good memorial for those who have lost their lives in the service of their country - but we, somewhat foolishly, climbed it in the heat of the mid afternoon - strewth!
I come up here all the time to catch fresh breezes and to remind myself how much I love this great little town. Fabulous views 360 degrees all around. Come here first if you are visiting Alice Springs and get your bearings! A great place to observe weather moving in, sunrise and sunset and late night star viewing, and also a place to pay respects to the ANZAC war memorial. Dawn service on ANZAC day up here is very moving.
A visit to ANZAC hill gives you a nice view of the town and the surrounding valley, while you have a chance to see how this area pays tribute to those killed in far-off wars. Alice Springs seems remote, and the idea of having her sons killed in the fields of Belgium or at Gallipoli seems even more remote. Lest we forget.
Anzac Hill is the hill closest to Alice Springs, in fact it is surrounded by the town. So, if you can go up here, you can see a beautiful views of the town and the surroundings like McDonell Ranges and the desert. Moreover you can go up by car or by walk, what you prefer,It is the best view in Alice Springs!!!
The views from Anzac Hill take in the entire Alice Springs township. You can really see just how heavily 'treed' the town is. And both the East and West Macdonnell Ranges seem to frame the whole town from high up here.
The monument is very nice and should be seen by any visitor of Alice. From the top there view of the city is quite nice. You can hike to the top or just drive. It does not matter as the view is all that matters.
Close to city centre at the north end of town.Great overall views of Alice. A gentle climb up and worth the effort.Try sunrise or sunset too.
Easily hiked, good view. Met a local who hikes this every day-5x! interesting combination of local park, war memorial and a spiritual site. Recommended to see at sunset.
A well kept monument - a must for everyone to see just what the servicemen and women gave up for their country,
Beautiful memorial, I didnt expect to see this here. The large trees provide good shade from the heat.
I loved this lookout. Good place to get your bearings as there is a good 360 degree view over Alice Springs township.
