Beltana Station is not far off the highway. We set up our caravan on the camping grounds with 4 other families and enjoyed the scenery, setting and company. Graham and Laura are very welcoming and are happy to chat over a drink or two. The meal in the restaurant was delicious, just wish I could have tried the Quondong pie! The surrounding townships and ruins are very interesting an can be seen at a leisurely pace. Must take a camera and comfortable walking shoes.
Just had two weeks visiting Beltana cattle and sheep station (fully working) with my sister and brother in law, , helping with the many chores, what a fabulous time, fantastic food, accommodation, awesome owners and staff, 4wd routes, camping grounds, powered and non powered sites, great amenities, and accommodation. I had the chance to go out bush for a day with the "boys" to muster the feral goats, I just watched and got some great photos, watched Beau shear some sheep. Loved sitting around the campfire with a wine or two and catching up with other visitors. It's a must "do" visit, with the Flinders Ranges in the very near distance!!!!
We stayed for a few days at an unpowered camp site with shower and toilet facilities a big plus for us and others with us there was no mobile reception at the campground although there is at the homestead the peace and quiet is fantastic. We will be back in fact have arranged for a group to go in October
Just want to say a bigthankyou to Laura and graham for employing helen as their hospitality person she could no tdoo enought for us as we pulled in with our caravans for a couple of nights stay Se helped us park our rigs and invited us to afternoon tea as well as give us permission to explore the station as we wished.Nothing was too much trouble and bigger organised caravan parks could well earn a lesson from this young ladyAlways friendly, and welcomingshe showed us a sparkling amenities block with hot showers and laundry facilitiesAlpacas roamed around as well as rescued puppiesThe 4x4 tour tracks are fun too with lots of very interesting sites to see and experience on this exciting historic sheep stationPs the salt bush lamb roast was a great meal and the pa kettle bush poetry show was a blast! Thanks again look forward to seeing you again someday
Beltana Station is a working cattle and sheep station in the north of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia about 60 kms south of Leigh Creek. But it is more than that. For those of you that are just on holiday and need a place to stay in the outback they boast well equipped 'Shearers Quarters' rooms, A fully self contained unit and a large self contained cottage. Plus powered and un-powered sites for the RV traveler. Add on to that a fantastic museum, cafe/restaurant and a covered swimming pool and you find yourself in a little oasis among the bush. They also offer Camel treks and self guided 4WD tours. If, like us, you are a 'Grey Nomad' and are traveling this great land of ours they will give you a powered site, showers toilets and an evening meal for a few hours of voluntary work a day. We found our stay there a delight and can highly recommend it. But, keep in mind, it is the outback so no city refinements here just warm hospitality and good food. Visit, you won't regret it.
