We visited this cellar as it was on our way and were very surprised! Everything inside looks so pure and lovely! Their tasting platter is worth to try as they served their delicious olive oil and other produce. Wine was good and servis superb!
OUr party of 8 visited this cellar door at the end of December. We booked in for wine tasting and also ordered platters of their dips and olives to share. It was very reasonably priced and we were not disappointed! The setting with views over their dam was delightful and we were wonderfully looked after as regards the wine tasting explanation. We were not rushed and had a very enjoyable hour here. If you come here in a smaller group, you can do the wine tasting for free but with large groups, they like to offer you the wine tasting experience which has a small cost. The wines, I can recommend in particular are the Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz.
The Cellar door area is very large and can cater for large groups as well as couples. This area is elevated thus providing great views over the valley and their vines. The outdoor area is well manicured and has plenty of seating. The wines are of a high quality and the Grenache has quite a different, interesting and lasting taste. Karl was very informative and passionate about the wines and whole area of Mclaren Vale
Visited over the Melbourne Cup weekend and was keen to do some wine tasting and a tasting platter. Most wineries allow tastings of pretty much all their wines, which could be up around 20. Lloyd Brothers only offered about 6, which was great for me as I was driving and it's easier to remember which one you liked best! We sat out on the decking with the olive platter and weren't rushed through the tastings like we had been at other wineries. This was probably the most relaxed winery experience we had over the whole weekend. Lloyd Brothers also has a small skincare range available for purchase which all looks and smells amazing.
We've spent eight days both in Barossa and McLaren Vale. And we did lots of tastings. In this review you will read my opinion about the wines. But since wine is very much about personal taste, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will share my opinion. You might hate the wine I liked and vice versa. So much about that, here we go:The last stop on that day was Lloyd Brothers wine. Almost more famous for their Olive oil than their wine.On that day we were able to taste the Rosé, the White Shiraz, the Sauvignon Blanc and the Shiraz. The Whites and the Rosé weren't overly impressive. Ok to drink, but no more. The Shiraz was ok, but lacking a bit of power. I would prefer it to be heavier and darker. So the wines here didn't really leave an impression. Easy drinking....but also easy forgettable. We purchased a bottle of the Sparkling Shiraz for later....which was solid. Even though the wine didn't really wow us, it's still worth very much to come visit here:Because their olive oil is really good (available from small bottles to the gallons!) and secondly because the garden area is absolutely amazing (check the pics). Such a peaceful, quiet place. We could sit here and enjoy it all day.Wanna know more about me and my trips? Check my profile.
The grounds are impeccable and it's a real credit to the owners.Best of all on this visit was 2012 Shiraz, big and bountiful we loved this one. The cellar shop has many hidden home made treasures so we will keep this winery on our visitor list for sure.
We tried out a few wines here whilst in the Mclaren Vale. The setting is quite beautiful and the cellar door is spacious and well set out. There are lots of olives and oils to try as well as some other products. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic about the wines and were happy to help. We weren't a huge fan of the wines, but the experience was great and its a place worth putting on the list if checking out a few wineries.
The white Shiraz was something I had never tasted before. It was delicious as were the Grenache Rose, the 2 regular Shiraz wines and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sauvignon Blanc was quite tasty and would have been a star if not for the excellence of the others. We were disappointed that we were too late to taste their olives.
Have been to Lloyd Brothers winery a number of times and always enjoyed the visit. Beautiful setting, lovely olive oil and body products, great wine. Particularly love their sparkling Shiraz. Staff are very friendly and know their wines. Will be back again soon I'm sure.
Friendly staff, brilliant wines and lovely products like olives, breads, cheeses and olive oils in a beautiful setting.
Have visited several times in last 12 months. Wines are good, olive oil and olive products delicious. Tasting plate 8 out of 10. Staff are always friendly and helpful great setting for a glass and tasting plate. Consistently among the best cellar door/ McLaren Vale experiences.
Very friendly staff. Nice wines and produce for sale.Try the White Shiraz - very different and delicious!
On a wine tasting afternoon, we made a quick stop at Llyod Brothers. We were greeted by its lush green gardens and alpacas next to ducks swimming about in a pond. Although we did not sit down at the garden to the winery's picnic platter, we could tell this would have been an serene place to enjoy your afternoon with excellent wine.
This is a winery to definitely put on the list - and go at lunchtime and have a meal. The wines are easy drinking including an excellent Sauvignon Blanc and well priced, the staff are friendly and knowledgable and there are lots of interesting other things to buy, including beauty products. Their olives and olive oils are very good and they're available for tasting, too. But, the best thing going here is the chef. The food is to die for. We had a five star meal for almost pub prices! It was brilliant. If I received that meal at the Hyatt, I would compliment the chef and be happy with a much larger bill! Rave, rave, rave. I wish I lived in the area - I would lunch here every Sunday.
When I'm taking overseas guests to McLaren Vale, we always start off at Lloyd brothers. Pretty grounds with alpacas, a pond and olive treats, a good wine selection (love the white shiraz), decent cleanskins but most of all lots and lots of yummy local produce to try - 5 or 6 premium olive oils, olives, sauces, marinades, jams, dukkah etc. There's also lots of body lotions etc to test/buy and a nice selection of produce, body products and alpaca garments - a great place to buy presents with a local flavour.
