We visited Marion's Vineyard some weeks ago and met the vineyard owner himself. We tried three different red wines in such small quantities that it was not possible to get neither the smell nor the taste of the wines properly. In addition the wines were expensive. When we said that we were not going to buy anything the owner got angry and brusquely told us that if we were not going to buy wines we should not be visiting them. We visited five other vineyards in Tasmania and were treated to some very welcoming service as well as offered to taste up to eight different wines in decent quantities. We have visited vineyards in South America, South Africa, Europe and Australia but we have never been met in such an unfriendly manner as at Marion´s Vineyard. It would be difficult to recommend this vineyard even though it is beautifully situated at Tamar river
For something a bit different don't be put off by the driveway! Marion has a wealth of knowledge and is one of the originals. Really enjoyed chatting and the wines were nice. Lovely touch of difference in this homogenous world. Great view over the Tamar!
Four of us visited. I have been the many times in the past and loved it. The ambience and gardens coupled with hospitality had been very good. Vast areas of garden with lookouts, pools, quirky garden art...it was such fun. This time it all seemed tired. Very tired. It needed to be smartened up . The wine was expensive! In fact we saw it for $7 cheaper at tourist outlets in the Midlands. Regardless the views of the Tamar and beauty of Deviot should be seen.
Today we sailed our 50' catamaran into the Tamar River and enjoyed a wonderful hour with Marion and her wonderful family. They delighted us with their company and an extra special personalized Wine Tasting right here on the boat! We're now well stocked with a variety of superb Marion's Vineyard wines to fortify us on the journey ahead. Thank you Marion!!
We enjoyed our visit here. It was the only vineyard we visited in Tasmania as we attended Launceston and Salamanca markets where we sampled other wines. The views are beautiful and Marion is a delightful person, but I do think that the prices are high for the quality of the wines.
This guy was a highlight of our 9 winery tour in the Tamar valley he had a wonderful sense of humour and some wines to match. Also available was olive oils vinegars and preserves for purchase. The views are beautiful outstanding for one of the oldest vineyards in the Tamar Valley don't know why it has taken me so long to visit.
We were wine tasting in the Tamar Valley and this winery came highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. The wines were excelelnt across the board and the views of the lake were outstanding. Shame it was a rainy day, we woul dhave loved to sit outside.
