I went on the 2 hour ride with my daughter, and we both loved it. Conny's horses are so kind, and she is a wonderful horsewoman and guide, with stories shared along the ride. If you like horses that are both responsive and have a bit of go, but at the same time make you feel totally safe and secure, this is a great ride for you. We really enjoyed the "tea break" after an energetic ride and the views were stunning through the Huon Valley. 2 hours went too quickly and next time we'd opt for longer to explore more and simply enjoy the lovely horses.
Thanks to Connie and her 2 beautiful horses, along with her assistant Bennie, 2 senior (not too old though) beginners had a great experience on our horse ride. We were made to feel extremely comfortable with both horses that have been well trained and are much loved and were very calm throughout the ride. As beginners we were walked only, though for us it was ideal. The countryside was fantastic and a more capable rider I am given to believe would be free to explore the property even further. Connie caters for all levels of riders and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone in the Huonville area. It was a fun morning with the addition of home-made morning tea.
My partner and I booked 2 weeks ahead for a 2 hour trail ride today (23 Jan 2013) and met our guides /informative instructors (Connie & Bennie) our beautiful mounts, Sutra and La Douce at Horse Haven Farmstay. It was about a 45-50 minute scenic drive south of Hobart. The 4 of us initially rode through farmland before heading high up into the well forested hills - it felt more like a mountain and we were so high we could see a bird of prey soaring below us. Both of our horses were sure footed and had plenty of energy to ride the trail. It was a wonderful experience to be on such good quality horses in stunning mountain/ bushland setting. Both my partner and I were particularly taken by Connie's horsemanship and gentle handling and training of her horses. In a kind, supportive and respectful manner, Connie generously offered to share her knowledge and methods of communicating with her mount so as to really enhance our riding pleasure skills at working in unison and harmony with our horses under a wide variety of circumstances and terrain. Whilst today's horse tail ride was not a formal lesson, I felt encourage and supported to improve and enjoy my horse riding more today than in any of my previous individual riding experiences.I would recommend a Horse Haven horse trail ride to anybody seeking a unique horse riding experience in Southern Tasmania - we considered today’s ride was excellent value.
We went horse riding at Horse Haven in April and had a wonderful time. The horses are well loved and very well looked after. It was a really personal ride with the owner of the property Conny and Teddy (the dog), even down to taking the horses back to their paddock. There is a self contained cottage available also, which we did not stay in as we had already booked accommodation elsewhere. I cannot say what the accommodation would have been like but based on the company and the overall vibe of the place, I'm pretty sure it would have been a good experience. Thanks Conny, we had such a great time. We will most certainly be back!
