Went for lunch and was told to wait but only a few tables full and it appears some friends of the waitress came in and was seated before us, guess my money not as good. We'll yes did complain but waitress said. "can't do nothing about it" and turned and walked away . Needless to say we haven't been back since and won't go back at all. Once dissed never forgotten. Your loss forever!

The views at GRV are spectacular but the cellar door is stuck in a time warp. With so many beautiful producers nearby I was expecting good food but all that's on offer is daggy supermarket deli food that's been way overpriced. Also disappointing I couldn't book into the new place for a dinner. Not sure why this place is resting on it's laurels.

Lunch here with a dear friend, my partner and son, which was truly memorable. We shared two tasty platters of Tassie treats and a great bottle of wine. Only wish we could have stayed longer and drunk more wine! A great place for lunch and highly recommended. Thanks Denise!!!

I recently had guests stay with me so decided to set out Sunday and take them to a place I had never been,Ghost Rock Vineyard. It was about 12.30 when we arrived most of the tables had been reserved we were lucky enough to get one table that was left. Might be a good idea to book here very popular Phone number is 64284005,address is 1055 Port Sorell Road,Northdown,Shearwater. My guests decided to do wine tasting,i was driving so i declined.there is a gift shop just as you walk in the front entrance to the left,full of goodies we settled for a bottle of wine and a glass with the ghost rock logo on it cost $40. There only seemed to be platters on the menu we chose a $45 approx ,with cheeses,bread,cold meats etc. Be aware not a lot of privacy when eating too many tables crammed into a small space. 3 at a table we found very difficult to eat as tables are small and get cluttered very easy. There is table service once you are seated we found it a bit daunting not knowing wether we had to go to counter to order or not. Be prepared to pay we spent $85 for 3 people could have eaten a large hamburger when we left. Spectacular views,you can dine outside if you like. I give them an 8 out of 10.Try if u like ENJOY!!!

Tasmanian wine has come a long way in recent years, particularly in northern Tasmania with wineries keeping up with the best of them on the world stage. Ghost Rock vineyard is situated in the rolling hills of the picturesque farmlands of northern Tasmania, around 15 minutes from the seaside town of Port Sorell. Although the vines have been established for some time, the cellar door and semi-cafe are a relatively new addition to the property.Wine tasting is available daily from 11 and a small selection of lunch platters are available to accompany your wine. They are reasonably priced and you can chose from dips, cheese, antipasto or a combination of all three. Bookings are welcome but unless you have a larger group, probably not necessary – especially on a weekday. The deck area overlooks the quilted hills and out to the turquoise waters of the north Tasmanian coast and Bass Strait. BYO sunscreen as the rays are fierce on a summer’s day. Our party of four ordered the Ghost Rock platter consisting of cheese, antipasto, chargrilled and marinated vegetables, cured meats, seafood, crackers and warm bread. Their menu suggests that it is suitable for 2 – 3 people and the wait staff informed me that it would be sufficient for four. We had around a 40 minute wait for it to arrive which was understandable as the two staff I observed were preparing the platters, running the cellar door and tending to tables. We opted for one of their two sparkling wines on offer, the ‘Zoe Blush’. Very light and sweet on the palate with a slight hint of pink from the pinot noir grapes.Our platter was delicious and complemented the wine and the weather. Although it was sufficient for four people, it was obvious that it wasn’t made for it. To be considered a platter for four people it should have one of each antipasti, cheese and meat for each person dining. Surprising that they didn’t cater the platters for the number of people dining. The service was typically Tasmanian: friendly, personable and running on the Tassie clock (it happens when it happens). Situated on the cradle to coast tasting trail, Ghost Rock is well worth a stop on your next visit to the apple isle.

Had good wine fantastic large platter suitable for 3 people for $45.OO. wines very good with no charge for tasting which is rare these days.

Great service and nice wines in an excellent setting, however the platters available dragged down the day. A limp salad without a dressing, meats that seemed packaged from the supermarket shelf and condiments selected for price rather than quality. A disappointment given their own shop sells gourmet products that they obviously don't use on their own platters.

called in with two friends for a glass of wine and spent the afternoon enjoying the lovely venue. while we were there we sampled some of the ghost rock wines and shared a platter of cheese, meats and pickles. the service was very well attended to by a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us. I had been to the vineyard about three years ago and found the platters to be a little more varied and too a little more on the generous side than this time. That however is the only negative thing i have to say. It's worth a visit especially on a sunny day when you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view while having an cold glass of reisling

Our guide grew up in the area so took us to Ghost Rock as she had heard about it. Thought the Platter to share, 3 of us, was a great idea and the content first class. Staff were attentive and helpful and keen to hear our guides memories of the area. Able to taste/ sample several wines before selecting glasses to drink.Setting was magical overlooking the vines, building work didn't disrupt us and good to hear about the function suite and possible day cookery courses - shame I live in UK or would be attending.

Went to ghost rock five years ago on several occasions, went again yesterday. The venue is excellent, beautiful setting, great wines and really friendly staff. But very average plater food that anyone could do themselves at home in no time and with very little trouble. The platers have not changed in five years, still same pate, pesto dip and cold meats from deli, same bread rolls and still no proper espresso coffee just average plunger coffee, only two sweets on offer. The best wines and setting to enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon, but such a shame the food is so average/poor as is the coffee.

For years my family have included Ghost Rock as a 'must' each summer for the wine, the food and the beautiful setting, but my most recent visit was an autumn one, with a group of friends for lunch. As usual, the wine (pinot gris, this time) was excellent, as were the platters and desserts. My only complaint is that espresso coffee is not available. The plunger coffee on offer is always a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely dining experience.

Spent the day here with a group of friends and a big crowd on 1 March. It was great. Much better than 2013 as we were able to bring picnic/snack foods. Good food was also able to be purchased. The concert was fantastic, all 4 acts highlighting with Janes Reyne. Great organisation allowed for a fantastic, carefree day. It also helped that we had a designated 'Des' - thanks Carol. We all hope to return next year. Can't wait to find out who they book.

Visited Ghost Rock Vineyard from Launceston for the James Reyne concert on Saturday 1 March. Wow..amazing, magical place. The only way to describe how this venue and staff ran this event was excellent. From the food on offer, to the excellent Sauvignon Blanc, parking, guest amenities (the young Lady did a fantastic job !), security, and of course the entertainment. It was my birthday, and I cant imagine having spent it in any other way. Thank you Ghost Rock Vineyard for an amazing day !!

Yes Saturday was an extremely busy day in cellar door, and the girls did the best they could with the numbers of customers arriving. Unfortunately we had several large groups all arrive within a very very short space of time, and without making a prior booking.The 'Vineyard Platter' ($38) is our version of a Ploughman's Platter and is suitable for one person for lunch, and it appears to have been confused with the 'Ghost Rock Platter' ($45) which serves 2/3 people and has the pate, smoked salmon, dips, bell peppers, fetta, olives etc and is served with warm bread rolls and crackers.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Tasting excellent Tassie wines enjoyed with a generous cheese platter overlooking the scenic winery next to a blue vista of Bass Strait, magic.
