great museum with friendly helpful staff. Good to see Aboriginal history on display and backed up by knowlegeable staff and info banners. Lots of great stories. There are a books on local history for sale too. The old school room brings back memories! Hokes tools are fabbo. Absolutely worth a visit, highly recommend, they're open 10 till 4.
Thank you for your feedfack we are very sorry you did not enjoy our local community museum. We try very hard to maintain a high standard with our exhibitions, displays and interpretation panels. We do allow some photographs to be taken in the School Room and Heritage Room and some in our main gallery. Because some of our collection is 'On Loan' to us we sign a document with the owner that we will not permit anyone to photograph it.Please contact me if I can help you further.RegardsMaureen Martin FerrisCurator
Great little museum with helpful information for those whose questions need answering. We needed information about a billiard table in this museum which is linked to our family history. Lady was most helpful!
We are very sorry that you were disappointed and unable to visit us because the building was closed for lunch. The museum is situated behind the Visitor Information Centre, therefore we have no control over the Visitor Centre's hours. The museum is often staffed only by volunteers, and the visitor information centre sometimes only has one staff member on duty. Unfortunately situations do arise when the building needs to be closed and for this we apologise.RegardsMaureen Martin FerrisCurator
This is a very interesting and well presented exhibition of local and general interest with very enthusiastic staff who obviously love their jobs.
I found the museum really interesting, and would have not hesitation in recommending anyone who is visiting Swansea to go and have a look. Definitely leave yourself at least an hour. The history of the area is fascinating, so many stories, photographs and mementos of the early days up to the present. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. In all our travels this would have to be one of the best Heritage museums.
The people manning this place were especially knowledgeable and helpful...spent over 30 minutes browsing some local history...
This Museum was really interesting and had heaps of well written information signs. The little school house section was interesting also. The Curator who was there was full of anecdotes about the area so we stayed for ages talking to her. I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely little heritage museum.
Well done Mrs Ferris . you have created a wonderful museum -very interesting . I would like to see more about the history of Swansea although the artifacts about the wars was well done too..Loved looking at the old school room and the equipment they had to use - slates and dip pens.
An unexpected professionalism in terms of the presentation of the visuals and information. Obviously some caring and competent people have contributed time and effort. Many of these facilities seem to club you into submission with lack of theme and thoughtless presentation of endless material, not so here. You walk out with some grounding on the events and main characters of early settlement and development. Don't expect a full history and social lesson, just take the snapshot on offer. Staff were welcoming and helpful.
