mountain stream fishery

We spent a hour and a half at this very scenic facility and we were greeted by very enthusiastic staff .we were able to view the fish being fed and enjoyed catching six beautiful fish that were promptly cleaned by the staff .a wonderful experience which we certainly will enjoy again.

Cant recommend this enough. Took my two kids and autistic brother to Mountain Stream Fishery, all never caught a fish before, it didn't take long and all three had caught a great sized fish!! Very cheap equipment hire, super friendly staff that even took to time to explain about the fish and clean them (and iced) while we waited. Well worth the visit!

Spectacular scenery and not far from Launceston. Lovely clean water and great hosts, well maintained and no gate charge, just paying for what we caught.

Went there totally unplanned. We drove in and were almost given the run of the place. We were looking over the lake and this nice chap came over to chat with us. We were getting on famously and it turned out he was the owner. What an absolutely nice man, he runs it as a family business and has been there for nearly 30 years. We ended up getting a tour guided by this second generation expert in Salmon breeding. We also met his son who has inherited his fathers welcoming nature and positive attitude. The value for money here is incredible as is the location. What an absolutely beautiful place to spend some time and catch a few fish. I only wish I lived there so I could visit regularly. This is a must do.

A great way to spend a day with family and to teach the younger children about trout fishing. Beautiful spot for a picnic or BBQ. Stuart and Suzie are extremely helpful, warm and welcoming and will do anything they can to make your experience the best it can be! Rods and gear are all supplied in the cost and fish are cleaned and bagged ready for you to take home.

I am an avid fly fisherman residing in Western Australia, so my opportunities to catch decent fish are few and far between. However, on a recent trip to Tasmania I spoilt myself and took the short trip out of Launceston to the Mountain Stream Fishery.Wow! OMG Wow! This place has some of the biggest Rainbow, Brook and Brown Trout swimming freely alongside enormous Atlantic Salmon. For $5 rod hire you can head down to the lake and catch yourself a fish. *Warning* the fish here are easy to catch. so if u don't want it to be like a bedroom performance (all over in 2 min) then set yourself a task. Pick the type of fish you want to catch, then set about trying to locate one in the size you want. This is best done with Polaroid sunglasses as they take the glare off the water making them easy to spot.You will then need to try and stork your fish until it is on its own giving you an oppotrunity to lure it for a strike. Soooo much fun. The kids love it here too and there are picnic tables. Great place for lunch.You must purchase what you catch as there is no catch and release here.(the stress of being caught often kills the fish anyway.) But, having said that, the prices are remarkably inexpensive.Well worth the visit when in Tas!!!!!!!
