Couldn't have asked for a better long weekend! Dave provided a recommendation for a 3 day 2 night stay paddling from Albury to Howlong and what a great trip it was. Would defiantly recommend it and looking forward to exploring more of the river with Murray River Canoe Hire.
The owner was lovely. He made a very good advice for canooing and gave us tips for our trip with the camper. When you are in albury its a must have!!!
Friendly advice by the owner, equipped and then we were off! Take lots of water to drink. Take your time, we were back at pick up point in 2 1/2 hours and we'd been given 3 hours before collection. But then, we did get a wriggle on when we investigated a colourful log floating near the bank (next to a field of cattle). Yep, that python would not need to eat for at least two months once it had finished drowning and downing the calf!
What a fantastic day canoeing on the Murray River. First class instruction for the novices in the group from Dave the instructor and owner of the business. Friendly and prompt service. I would highly recommended Murray River Canoe hire in Albury Wodonga.
Probably the best way to enjoy the Murray River. Dave runs the business and really knows how to make it a fantastic activity. Besides, the prices are really reasonable. Would recommend it to anyone who has some strength left in his arms ;)
David picks you up at Nouriel park, then drives you out a little way from town, where you are set loose to float gently down the river back to where you started. The handy map was useful - but the basic rule was "Keep to the right at any junction" Even I could manage that!We just phoned as we arrived at Nouriel Park to see if we could rent a canoe. Much better to phone a day in advance to book. Also, I think it might be better to start early in the day, rather than be out in the sun in the middle of the day.A really good way to spend an afternoon.
Dave runs an enjoyable business that he clearly takes pride in. He gave us good advice and excellent equipment. This is great for mates wanting a weekend away. I am an introvert who is cautions about outdoors stuff and even I would recommend going with dave. Two thumbs up.
Quite frankly there is not much to do in Albury but to relax, relax and ....relax!David that runs the canoe hires is so chilled and relaxed, very flexible with the booking times or when you need to be back and he is such a global trotter. He picks us up at the assigned location and drives up stream of the Murray river, that means that we are not forced to be going against current therefore catered to all fitness levels. David gives you an option whether you want a singular or double canoe as double canoes are just chilled and relax, you could let it just run with the current ( of course you will still have to paddle steer the boat otherwise you go into the trees) or a singular one that is very zippy for those that want a little bit more of an excitement. This is the one of the BEST ways you could see the Murray, it's so peaceful and you get to observe cows drinking on the banks of the river, birds in their own natural habitat ( how all animals should be, free).David was not fussed as to when we get back, whether we wanted to pull over and go for a swim or picnic however did also go through all the safety protocols with us. It is safe, only way you would capsize is to have friends play around and intentionally literally try to capsize you. This is a self guided tour so you are not obligated to stay with everyone in your group. At your own pace.I didn't bring a camera as i didn't want it to get wet. David supplies either a wet bag or a sandwich bag to prevent damage to your non waterproof device, Do remember to slip slop slap. The river water is so pure, fresh and COLD once you go for a dip yet the rays do hit you hard seeing the trip could take 2-3 hours on the half day tour. I love Albury, and i will definitely be back for more canoeing.
Highly recommend Murray River Canoe Hire - best way to see and experience the beauty of the Murray. Safe, fun and either relaxing or good exercise (your choice). Dave can suggest different drop off points depending on how much time you have, group size and paddle experience etc. We saw kangaroos, wild ducks and swans and a playpus! A great social activity for groups of all sizes....Thanks Dave!
A really fun way to see the Murray River is to spend a half day or day in a canoe from Murray River Canoe Hire. I have done both and had a great time very relaxing but energetic at the same time. Very organized day getting picked up at Noriel Park and then taken upstream where you commence your journey. Swimming along the way in some great spots. Equipment is great and you get given good instructions would recommend for visitors and locals .
Hired canoes from Dave, all easy and the family had a great trip in the middle of winter. The Murray is amazing and we'll worth visiting.
We can highly recommend a paddle down the Murray River for a family holiday with Murray River Canoe Hire. The holiday was low cost, high adventure and provided quality family time. Kids loved the paddling, camping, swimming & campfires and the parents loved not having to wrestle them away from screens. We were also very impressed with Dave's friendly, helpful service and great advice. Can't wait til next time!
Hired 3 canoes for 6 adults and 3 kids had amazing time kids loved it and Dave the person who picked us up took as to a perfect spot on the river for the kids to start couldn't have been better
Fantastic way to spend a few hours. Have spent a lot of time in the area over the years without realising just how beautiful and peaceful the Murray is at Albury. Paddling with the current was very easy especially given that water had recently been let out at the weir. I'm also told there are platypus although we weren't lucky enough to see any. Great fun for all skill levels.
Had a ball it was relaxing and loads of fun. Pack a picnic or have lunch at Noreiul before you go or when you get back. My friends loved it as well and we will be back!
