Beautiful scenery, Mother Nature at her best, be prepared to walk, walks from 30mins to 5 to 6 hours..... but it's all worth it
Wentworth falls doesn't seem to be on the organised coach trip stops so we were delighted to find this place almost deserted during the latter half of the afternoon. Would recommend it after fighting your way around the various walks within a 1-2 mile radius of the 3 sisters
We took the shorter walk as we had young children and while it wasn't long, there were a lot of steps for them. They had a couple of falls and we ended up piggy backing them on the way back. The view and walk was worth it but it's worth thinking carefully about if you plan to do it with kids.
We pulled in to see the Wentworth Falls whilst driving the Blue Mountains Drive. A short (10 minute) stroll leads you to a great viewpoint above the falls, and the more adventurous can carry on down into the valley and get right up to them.
Wentworth Falls is one of the most spectacular sights I've ever seen (from the bottom).Well, actually, the trail from Leura views the falls from the top, the middle, and eventually the bottom. However getting to the vistas is challenging, with many steps/stairs/ladders down and then back up.This waterfall is hundreds of meters high with much of the water actually being blown back up the cliff face by the wind. The steps down and up are not suitable for small children and probably not for the elderly but if you are physically fit this is a once in a lifetime experince.
Wentworth Falls is one of those absolutely stunning places that looks amazing form every single angle. There are loads of beautiful walks, from short walks to lookouts (stunning views across the valley) to the sensational National Pass - surely one of the best walks in Australia. There has been a lot of work to restore all the lovely sandstone steps along the track and the views are amazing. Well worth the walk (or jog - we saw a few early morning joggers taking the pass!).
There are a whole range of walking tracks that you can explore around Wentworth Falls, many of them yielding fantastic views out over the valley. The majority of the tracks are not very difficult either, although you'll want to moderately fit in order to handle the ascents. My preferred route is starting at the Conservation Hut, down to Empress Falls and then looping through the Wilderness Track, back up along the National Pass. This route has pretty much all you would want from a bush walk through the Blue Mountains. There are great views from up high, some very scenic spots along the cliff face and by the falls, and the tracks are a good mix of easy-medium difficulty. Returning to the conservation hut at the end also allows you to enjoy a nice little meal at the end of your walk, if you so choose to.Of course the highlight of whatever route you end up taking is Wentworth Falls. The falls look fantastic, and serve as a great reward for the long walk if you've taken the longer route, or just simply as a great destination to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.I would suggest Wentworth Falls to anyone who's looking to get out and explore our bush. The different tracks means that a wide range of people, of varying fitness levels would be able to reach the falls without much difficulty.
Great views, great trails. Just walk through the mountains to the waterfall. When we went the weather was apt. Nice breeze with intermittent drizzle. Loved it!
If you take the National Pass at Wentworth Falls it is about a 3 hr hike over some of the most dramatic scenery and track you will ever walk across and it is free, even the parking!. We were fortunate to go on a day when the sun came out and it was not too crowded.Certainly not a walk for the faint hearted as it involves many steep steps close to sheer cliff drops (there are hand rails!). It was just brilliant with fantastic views almost everywhere.
Great views and some good walking trails. Everywhere well signposted , we even saw a brown snake!!!!
Although it was raining and the clouds were low, we enjoyed our visit to Wentworth Falls. The well maintained trails made it safe to walk during wet conditions, and we were treated by the fantastic scenery and falls when the clouds opened up at times during our visit. Only bummer were all the tour buses that showed up and the crowds but we were leaving so it was okay. Recommend you get here early to avoid the crowds.
Very scenic and picturesque place at one end of the National Pass. It's actually very close to the parking lot although you would have to go down a long stairway. Unfortunately when I was there it was quite crowded with many people swimming in the pond or picnicking. It was difficult to take a nice photo with so many people around. Still, the view is breathtaking.
Walking about 800 steps down the mountain to view the waterfall! The walking returning to the top of the mountain is tough! Haha... But I would say it is worth the walk!
If you like nature & great views, this is the place to go. If you are staying in Sydney, for christ sake, make sure you do this!
