We were really looking forward to this day for many reasons and Aidan did not disappoint. From the moment we checked in until the moment we departed for the day, we were treated with great professionalism. We did the Empress Canyon tour and had a blast. Tim, Greg and Chewy were our guides and they took very good care of us. Very patient with a big group with a wide range of experience and we always felt safe. They can make a great sandwich, too!! The only aspect I was not satisfied with is we were told our water shoes would not be allowed since even though the top of the foot is covered, the sides had areas of exposure. So, we had to wear the shoes they provided (which was nice of them to do). But, the shoes they provided did not give anymore protection and, in fact, fell apart as we hiked and climbed. If anything, they were more of a risk than the shoes we brought!! The guides stated we could have used our own shoes and recommended we do. However, the owner disagreed. Once they get on the same page and sort it out, than things will be fine. Other than that, this is a great organization and we had an awesome time! I would even pay a little more to have an extra staff person to attend just to take pictures of the group. Downloading pics to FB is a nice bonus too! Thanks for doing that, Aidan!
My partner and I went for some adventure bonding and had a blast!! The guides and people who work here were super friendly, supportive and knowledgable! A full day of great adventure with lunch included. Well worth the day trip to the Blue Mountains! We will be back!! Thanks High and Wild!
Awesome adventure, fantastic guides (Tim & Nathan), lush views and an experience you will never forget! If you're a nervous beginner they will look after you and help you do things you never thought you could; if you're an experienced adreneline junkie they will give you the chance to do the things you always wished you would. I cannot wait to go back to continue my journey from the former to the latter!
I did a full-day Empress Canyon adventure with High 'n' Wild last week. It was incredible. We spent the morning practicing abseiling, which was almost as much fun as the canyoning. Although I had some abseiling experience, I freaked out a bit on my first few abseils. Jason was incredibly supportive and knew exactly what to say in order to earn my trust and calm my nerves. The canyon itself was absolutely beautiful. Never seen anything like it before. Although I was disappointed to get to the end of it, the grand finale was abseiling down Empress Falls - an experience that would be hard to match. With Jason's instruction, I had absolutely no trouble making my way down. I highly recommend giving this a go if you're up for an adventure!
What a fantastic day! Superb views, high adrenaline experience and a great bunch of people. Don't visit the Blue Mountains without trying this.
We did Abseiling and Canyoning in the Blue Mountains on 06/01 and we absolutely loved the whole experience. Our guides, Tim and Nathan, were awesome, very friendly and professional. Definitely recommend it! Thank you guys for the great day. Pri and Wayne.
We had a great morning abseiling with Tim, gradually increasing the height and complexity of the abseil. We then went on to The Empress Canyon and worked our way through the many water jumps, clamouring sections before the final 30m abseil down the waterfall. Both Tim and Chewy (the guides for the canyon) were knowledgeable, friendly and informative. They made the whole trip really enjoyable and we had a great day.Friendly, trustworthy and informative. I would highly recommend the team and experience here.
High n Wild run various adventures in the Blue Mountains - I've been canyoning with them a few times now, most recently just before Xmas when I did Grand Canyon with them. This was a great day out. After getting all our gear together at their base we spent the morning practicing abseiling (rappelling). There were only 3 of us on this trip (I believe another group had cancelled) so we got plenty of practice on 3 different abseils, all in the same area. This is a fun adventure activity in itself. It doesn't matter if you've never abseiled before - the guides will teach you and they're really good. I first learned to abseil with HnW and I can still do it.Next up was lunch with bread rolls and various fillings to choose from. The walk to the canyon is on the Grand Canyon track and is a really nice walk in itself. The main 'adventure' bit of the canyon is the abseil to get in there and when I got down in the canyon it totally took my breath away - really beautiful, like another world. This isn't a canyon for the jumping and sliding enthusiast - it's mostly rock scrambling and creek walking, and quite a lot of walking along logs. There's also plenty of swimming, which I really enjoy - so nice to give your feet a rest and just float along looking up at the spectacular surroundings. The walk out was a bit of a challenge - uphill all the way and by the end I admit there was a bit of swearing when I saw the last lot of steps. But I made it without keeling over, so I felt very pleased. Our guide was great throughout, very focused on safety but also very friendly and funny and easy to get on with, which really helped make a great day. And the two other people in the group were lovely which also helped.I like High n Wild a lot. They have good equipment, good guides and great trips and I'm really impressed by their safety focus - as good as anywhere I've seen. The main canyon that goes frequently is Empress and that's also great fun - it's a shorter canyon, but with some jumps and with the big abseil down the waterfall at the end. You also do abseil practice in the morning for this one to ensure you'll be able to make it down the waterfall. There's also an uphill walk back to the Conservation Hut at the end - this is pretty much the theme in the Blue Mountains - you walk (or canyon) down then you have to come back up. If you fancy a really fun adventure, consider Rocky Creek/Twister, which is great fun with some mad jumps and slides and some gorgeous canyon sections. It helps to be at least moderately fit, and also to be able to swim (or at least be comfortable in the water). If you're going to be in the Blue Mountains, give canyoning a go! And if you're going to try canyoning, I'd recommend High n Wild to go with.
This is an activity that is really worth doing. The guides were so professional, experienced and ensured everyone was comfortable before they undertook anything during the day. The views while abseiling were fantastic and the canyoning element was a lot of fun. Letting the group have control of the camera and uploading the photos to their Facebook page later was a nice touch.
Very nice park for families with young kids. Walking distances are not taking as long as indicated and estimates are rather spacious.
This experience is a must for anyone visiting the Blue Mountains with a thirst for adventure. We really enjoyed the day. Our guide (Tim) took us Abseiling in the morning , lunch, and then we did Empress canyon which included a 30 metre abseil down a waterfall!!!!! Such an amazing area, thank you guys for the experience. The lunch was surprisingly delicious ( something i didn't expect) I wanna do it again tomorrow!!!
I had such a good time canyoning and abseiling in Espress Canyon! Our tour guide Tim made me feel very safe on every part of the experience. Strongly recommended for anyone who likes adventure and adrenaline rush!
We were led by Nathan in a small group to Empress Fall Canyon. Nathan was very friendly and supportive. Knowing that I was a first timer and a weak swimmer, Nathan guided me through every step of the way. The view was breath taking and our experience was unforgettable! I did not regret doing this. I highly recommend High n Wild. All the staff that we dealt with were very highly and helpful.
We are concerned to hear this. We have never had a complaint like this before in 25 years of operation. Can you please let us know the date of your trip so we can investigate this matter?
We went for the half day abseiling tour on 5th November 2014.High N Wild are conveniently located within the YHA itself. We were quite fortunate to be in a group with 4 people (us and another couple) , which allowed a balance of rest in between descents and ensuring the instructor/guide was able to attend to each of us if need be.Our guide, Tim, was fantastic. For most of us in the group, it was our first time trying abseiling. Tim was very confident and encouraging and ensured safety at all times. We progressed from basic techniques on smaller drops to the longest drop at 30 metres high. Definitely a breathtaking view! In general a fantastic experience!
