Lovely, natural sometimes there are black swans there - always many birds, can be mosquitos! Boardwalk to walk around and fairly flat
We went during the middle of the day. The walk was easy, but half of the walk was not even near the water. There were hardly any birds on or around the water when we were there. We saw more bird life in the car park than anywhere else. There is a lovely dock area to sit overlooking the wetlands. There is a picnic table near the car park and a bigger group of tables and chairs further along. The toilets and grounds are kept very clean and are very well looked after. The brochure is informative and well designed.
These wetlands have been recently advertised in the local area. Firstly they are poorly sign posted and easy to miss off the highway. Secondly there was very little evidence of birds or wildlife when we visited. The trail is easy to follow, the picnic areas are new and clean and the views from the lookout are very good.A pleasant walk but don't expect to see much wildlife.
In the middle of the ring trail is a lagoon filled with bird life -- black swans -- and water lillies. Looks like some French painting, really. The forested areas are beautiful and great vantage point looking up and down the coast, with the three brothers mountains in the background. Two minutes off the highway, we really enjoyed our hour long stop!
This wetlands has a well marked walking trail around it which is graded as "easy" and it had recently been mowed by the local council. There are plenty of places to stop along the way and have a picnic but you need to bring everything with you. There are boardwalks through the low lying areas and a jetty jutting out into the main part of the wetland. It is quite spectacular really. We were there in the middle of the day but still managed to see black swans, ducks, coots, swamp hens, kites, & wrens. Pick up a pamphlet at the small hut where you park your car and follow the self guided walk. The trails are very well marked and numbered spots highlight different things to read about in the pamphlet. Bring insect repellant as, like all wetlands, there are a few mosquitoes. Walked up to the top of the lookout along the way for a good view of the area.
