We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time here in the Museum and we hope to see you again in the future.

AussieRhino

AussieRhino, we are delighted that you choose to visit the Museum with your family. We are always looking for ways to improve the visitor experience, so we value your feedback. You might be surprised to know that both serving and retired firefighters volunteer at the Museum. Sometimes they act as hosts, explaining the displays to our visitors, but more often than not they are to be found outside in our workshed doing a fabulous job of restoring the old fire engines. Hopefully the next time you visit your children will get a chance to meet one of our firefighters.

A must for firefighters and their families and especially interesting for anyone who may have ancestors who were Firefighters from early 1800's in Sydney. Wonderfully presented and information cleary shown. Even equipment from England dated 1790. A great sense of pride in the profession of firefighter and their dedication to duty of care and safety to the public.Friendly, informative staff to help out.A special area designated to educate children with play and learning areas.Outdoor areas perfect for picnicking and play area for childrenClose to railway station, plenty of free parking.

Large enough and with enough interactive items and fire engines to keep both of my children entertained. My son keeps asking to go back. The museum is better then it looks from the outside, and you can easily spend 1-2 hours there.

I am visiting Australia from Virginia, USA and my parents and I brought my 3 year old son to this museum on December 4, 2014. He LOVED it! There was a wonderful children's section, complete with approx 8 mini Fire trucks for kids to climb into and there were also interactive giant puzzles, computers, even dress up fireman helmets and jackets! My son really enjoyed himself, learnt lots and had to be dragged away! We bought a water "fire extinguisher" from the gift store for $2.50. Best buy :-) For the adults, we were really impressed with the huge array of historic firefighter vehicles: everything from horse drawn and steam engine fire trucks (in excellent condition), to the bush fire fighting trucks. There were also computers for the kids and a video short show for the adults. They also have a little play area outside for the kids as well as picnic benches. It was too hot for our son to play outside but we did enjoy our lunch on the benches! Definitely worth the experience. Oh, admission prices were very nominal. I think we paid $25 for our entire family.

This is a well laid out Fire Museum that has a great collection of historical fire trucks from N.S.W. If you have an interest in fire fighting, well worth a visit.

We took our young children (3 and 7) here one Sunday afternoon. I actually expected my children to be a little bored, but they absolutely loved it. Our children often ask us when they can go back. Interesting and enjoyable for the adults too.

Well worth the visit the history there is brilliant and VERY helpful staff on hand. Will be going back again and take more photos and spend more time there and it's only a couple of Klms from us hidden away but well worth the visit for ALL people of ALL ages.

We were 5 adults so this was easy to walk around and read all the information I could imagine children would want to run from one fire engine to another :)The entry section presentation on house fires was well done, it really got your attention and set the mood as were the informative panels and exhibits on entry. I did note that they had an inside children's play area, fire engine themed of course so they are well catered for. There are also very well maintained lawn areas to sit and picnic and also an outside children's play area. This is a hidden gem as our relatives who live in Sydney didn't even know it existed, such a well kept secret. We were lucky that we had total peace and quite whilst looking at the video that was made for the 100 year anniversary the archival footage was fascinating. This was informative and interesting but please update, clean up the bad visual parts, like a tape that has been played to often and is breaking down. Surely someone out there can volunteer their expertise to do this as it distracts from the information presented. The engines themselves are immaculately presented, a credit to all those involved. It was a surprise to see the Japanese part of the exhibit, most interesting. The information is in a written format and most informative; for those that like their information visually presented this would be a chore. This is something that will eventually require updating to attract the generations that are used to being "entertained" whilst absorbing facts. Visit length would I believe, depend on the ages of those you were with, 1-2 hours for small children, 2-3 hours for adults if you want to really check out the entire collection. The gift shop has a wonderful range of souvenirs across a wide price range and is definitely worth a look. Toilet facilities are provided which were clean. A minor negative was no refreshment facilities, as this is somewhere you'd expect at least a small coffee shop.

What a great place steeped in history. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We drove over an hour to get to the museum and it was worth the trip. My 3 year old son loved it especially and we will be back for another visit!

My partner and I took her nephews. Love the fact they have a kids activity corner with the all-important fire safety messages throughout but tailored so they kids can learn and have fun at the same time. As expected there a plenty of old fire trucks from different eras and info boards packed with interesting tidbits. Definitely a worthwhile excursion. The staff are lovely too. Next time I'd do the tour.
