I first visited the Dog on the Tucker Box some 38 years ago. Today I revisited it and had a wonderful life reflection. Those of you who whinge that it should be moved, get over it, obviously not being Australian you would be excused for not understanding the legend of this iconic statue. As for the shop, prices and staff, WELL DONE, I was not disappointed, nor were the 3 bus loads of tourists and dozens of cars. For the record, I had the Tucker Box Burger, its the best. Thank you

Have stopped here many times as a child and visited recently. The site is the original site and as for others stating it should be moved elsewhere - you obviously have no real history in mind of this area in Australia. The shop is pricey but that is the only bad thing about this stop. The Aussie hamburger with the lot I had was delicious aswell as the homemade cakes I ate happily. Delicious food and a historic stop for Australians who know what the area is worth.

This wasn't quite as good as I expected. Easily found just off highway. A statue infront of a shop. However it is just something you have to stop off at and take a pic

If you blink you cannot find the dog and parking is at a premium, if you have a caravan. The monument should be moved from its present location, to the main park in town.

This is a tired rest area that the only thing going for it was The Dog. Having said that it's still good for a stop for a photo withe dog and a loo break. Cafe has very friendly staff.

Stopped here and had a divine iced coffee and a rest. Iconic place to stop with an excellent gift shop. Lots of lovely things to buy.

On the way from Melbourne to Canberra the dog on the tucker box is an iconic stop. A peaceful spot with a shady place to park the car. After taking a few photos we had a pleasant lunch at the eponymous cafe.

A long time family tradition of making a stop at the Dog on the Tuckerbox.I stopped to enjoy a peaceful break under the lovely trees within the picnic area. There is a sense of Australian History in the surrounds.I did have a freshly made salad sandwich and a very nice coffee from the original cafe. I certainly didn't rush to get back on the road. Just enjoyed being in a lovely spot.

Of course you must stop here when travelling between Sydney/Canberra and Melbourne. A pleasant place to picnic, if you have brought food. We found a lovely cafe in an old railway carriage. It has a limited menu but the staff are very friendly and on for a chat if you wish. Another plus is that they have very clean restrooms. It is signposted as Tuckerbox Antiques as they sell antiques and other nick nacks here. We will stop here again on our return journey.

Always nice to say hello to the Dog on the Tucker Box. The whole area is interesting, especially the remains of an old motel from the 1800's.

Yes it's small but this is a piece of Australian history and we call in each time we travel south to visit family. A must see for tourists and there are shops in walking distance for food, drinks and souvenirs. A great stop while on the road

This is a must do stop, even if you only do it once stop for a photo. Its about the only thing worth stopping for in Gundagai.

Must see this little monument it's part of Australian history. The coffee shop also offers a nice range of delicious food. My hubby is still thinking of their pies!

You will only see it if you pull into the service station north of Gundagai. We need fuel & so we again saw this long known monument to man's best friend :)

This place is now situated just off the Hume Hwy , so a tiny effort is needed to visit[200 mtr diversion] .I remember visiting as a child & there was nothing else there. After 50 years they have developed a cafe ,petrol stop & a couple of other attractions to amuse everyone. There's even a local hand-made jewellery stall on site. The real attraction is the story of the dog which is engraved on the monument & a must read for Australians as well as o'seas visitors. There's also lots of dog orientated souveniers for the collectors of such stuff.Take time to visit this place, enjoy the break & have a good cup of coffee.
