You expect to find antique shops in small country villages, where not much seems to change over time, and where local people are friendly. Antica Trading is in the centre of the main street that runs through Gundaroo. It is interesting because in addition to the usual Australian artefacts from the past 100 years or so that you expect to find, here you will also discover creations from Africa. Proprietors David and Glynis Streak have also brought in container loads of fascinating collectables, ranging from small ancient Ethiopian silver crosses to a two metre high giraffe carved in Swaziland. There is plenty of jewellery and lots of 'mens' collectables such as old tools and automobilia. There is also a furniture restoration or creation service. The displays are well labelled and it is easy to move around the store. Well worth a visit as there are so many fascinating things to look at - and buy.
