Potaroo Palace is a must do for both overseas as well as Australian visitors.Staffed largely by passionate volunteers, this Australian Native Animal Educational Facility gives visitors the opportunity to view it`s extremely well cared for residents as well as take in the talks from the knowledgeable volunteers & keepers. The wonderful food & coffee from the cafe really topped off a great day.Thankyou!!

Have been here many times before and it's always a lovely day out listening to the bell birds, meeting the animals and pootling about. Kids love it and so do we. Reallly relaxing day out, not too much travel from Merimbula and decent food in the cafe. A good day out.

We took our two year old grandson who loved running around and looking at our native animals and riding the small train (about a 5 minute ride). Some animals roam free - kangaroos, emus. There's a small little cafe with average, mostly homemade food. Overseas tourists would enjoy it more than locals. But, should be supported as the ethos is about looking after our native animals and promoting them.

The staff were very friendly and seemed to love their jobs. My 3 year old enjoyed getting up close to the wombat and echidna, and feeding the kangaroos. The entry price was reasonable given it all goes towards the upkeep of the place. Glad i took the time to visit.

This was our 4th visit to this little park and we were again impressed with the quality of and cleanliness of facilities. The staff are a wealth of knowledge and provide excellent hands on experiences not usually available at larger animal zoos. We were a little disappointed that the cafe choices were less 'gourmet' than previous visits.

So much more than a potaroo palace. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with the kids. The kids loved their special lunch packs. The train ride was lovely. The games were a delight. We intended to stay for a couple of hours and ended up staying on for lunch and more. We did everything, truly a great place to take the kids.

We dropped off on our way home and spent a few hours here. You get to see the animals up close and pat them and for $20 its a great way to spend some time with nature. You head around on a little train and pat wombats on the lounge and see owls, kangaroos, a dingo, peacocks etc. If you havent been you should go and support the wildlife protection of these animals.

What I love most about this place is the natural beauty. It is tucked away in the heart of the bush. The guides are so informative, they make it so easy to learn about our native wonders. Up close and personal with koalas, kangaroos and echidnas! A fun day out for everyone.

I really loved this place! It had a beautiful atmosphere, the tour guides were really lovely and informative, we got to pat a baby wombat! and feed a joey, I liked that we could feed some of the animals, it wasn't too expensive, nice gift shop, very peaceful, although we didn't spot all the animals.

I was concerned that this would be a disappointing stop on our holiday. Instead, it is well kept. Each animal has its story clearly displayed: how they ended up at the sanctuary (though not necessarily when), why they cannot be released, etc. Some animals who have died even have their special stories on display. It's hard to feel sorry for the caged animals when you know this environment is the only way they can survive. There is a large checkers and dominos area which is nice for a change of pace. Skip the train ride (smells bad, very short, no information given on it), and don't plan to eat at the cafe (didn't see anything substantial available).

Don't forget to buy a feeding bag when you enter as this enables you to get up close to the Emus and Kangeroos. Only go for the train ride if you have children. The train engine is rather noisy. The best part of this visit was the guide showing and telling us about all the animals there.

We were lucky to have perfect weather (usually is I believe) and spent a relaxing day with family strolling through the park. Birds and animals seemed happy and well looked after. Interesting comments boards on all cages and staff were friendly and helpful.

You could easily spend over an hour wandering the reserve and discovering all the different native animals. The cafe is brilliant and has the best Toasties on offer. Fantastic and devoted staff. Would definitely visit again.
